Renault supplies the exact same engines to their own team and to their customers
McLaren believes that they will keep doing it even if Renault builds a Championship winning car. RedBull does not.

Red Bull are looking at Honda as the 'independent power unit manufacturer' that they have been searching for.
RBR has the experience with implementing the 'in the loop' simulator that could help Honda improve the reliability of the power unit.
If the Honda power unit improves, they will put it in the RBR cars too.

I think it's a mixture of the new management saying hey we are different. They have most likely made promises they can't keep with Honda and their heads are on the line. And they seem to be shaming Honda trying to get them to drop out of F1.
It would be a long play especially with the rumor that the part they have struggled with the most (mgu-h) is going to be cut. The proposed regs sound like the Honda glory day regs.
They can sign all the deals they want it doesn't mean it's happening. There is so much more at play than McLaren making a deal.
F1 management needs to agree, they have pretty much said that if Honda doesn't have a home it's not happening. RBR has a veto, which I wouldn't be surprised if they used but Horner said they probably wouldn't. Because it's breaking a rule the team's get a say in if it happens, I would be very surprised if it passes the vote. McLaren need to pay out Honda And word on the street is that the Honda cash is keeping them afloat. And a team needs to say they will use Honda and sign a deal with them.
Until there is another team co firmed deal with Honda, it isn't happening at all because that's the weakest link atm.

you're still too young. I was always skinny af, but since around 27-28 I noticed I suddenly could gain weight. Now I'm normally build, but if I would eat the same as before and do nothing, I think the pounds would add easily
