Maybe he's not the first, but I've never heard anything quite like it. Dissonant black metal played in a super intricate and technical bluegrass style. That makes it sound goofy but I find it really impressive and interesting.

Nocturnal Poisoning - Other Worlds of the Mind, for those wondering. Xasthur's new direction.

can't believe this hasn't been posted yet

wow this is great

Unfortunately this. Imagine how good the world would be if this was the only Atmospheric Sludge Metal album.

What would you say this created?

...

all i wanna do is literally a dream pop song

Came here to post this

...

Venom released a Thrash album before KEA

...

Most innovative and best album I've ever heard, hope it inspires similar bands

i heard one or two songs from this and put it on my list of things i would eventually listen to and when i finally got around to it a year later i couldn't figure out why i thought i would like it. i guess i'm not in the mood. maybe i would have loved it a year ago

this happened today or i wouldn't mention it

...

brutal prog

Good choice, OP.
This album is GOAT!

Quite possibly the first punk opera.

no

>implying it didn't predicate mumble rap

>implying it did

Repulsion - Horrified was first.

Why? and the singles created a new genre
And if you want to go back without the Buzzcocks Discharge would have never used the d-beat
so the 1976 demo of the Buzzcocks created d-beat

i have a bad feeling about this

there were two types
one came from punk (Napalm Death), the other from metal (Repulsion)
But there were bands doing the same thing even earlier like Cyanamid in 83

This EP literally created black metal.

For better or worse

Good one

What is?

...

I can't remember which venom album it was, probably welcome to hell

Would you consider any of the songs by Diamondhead thrash or were they just proto thrash?

Did this come out before metal machine music?

Pop punk.

Is this, dare I say it...

Pseudoscorpian

...

This thing started the most important pop music movement of the late 20th century, hell I'd argue it's as influential as TVU&N

I don't see how this could be seen as innovative in the slightest

...

>hurr d beat means they use a d beat

There's more elements to d-beat than the drumming retard.

it's just being memed at this point

Sunday Morning was already that years ago.

All I Wanna Do is more like proto-shoegaze.

Some Indian dude accidentally created acid techno.

It may technically be the first punk record produced but only because they were the first to get the funds/attempt to make an album. The punk scene has already there and they invented nothing

If we go even further back this could very well be first Thrash riff.

Maybe not a whole genre but often overlooked band and album.

They were doing their shtick since 74, everything else before that is protopunk

is that manga panel from Welcome to NHK?

Came here to post this

That's Kyoko from PMMM

Dude most of the new york bands were playing in 74

this unironically

Repulsion as Genocide is pretty much very fast crossover thrash.
Cyanamid is the shit
there were also this shitty band called Carrion Commandos and some of the stuff from bands like SP Kaos, Brigado Do Odio, Mierda, Patareni/Buka, G-Anx that played insanely fast hardcore long before Napalm Death or Repulsion

heck even Agathocles had a grinding demo before Napalm Death

King Crimson invented pro-

Yeah but how many of them were punk?

(Nice dubs)
If it weren't for this band/album, there would be no MC5 and The Stooges would never have recorded/released Funhouse.

wrong
