Was he an evil guy or did he truly want to save the world of music?

Was he an evil guy or did he truly want to save the world of music?

He knew how to do his job.

too many slackers in music, he demanded perfection. a rare thing indeed.

He was a crazy prick who drove a guy to suicide. That kind of coaching isn't the thing that gets everyone to do their best. Even today in top sports, there are coaches who don't have to do that to get their players to be all time greats. He thought the ends would justify the means, but they didn't.

I wish I cared enough about something to want to be truly great at it.

he's a pissed off idealist who has good intentions but doesn't know as much about psychology as he thinks he does

He was a selfish prick that wanted to have a star he so oftenly talked about, which worked out fine at the end. His former student that killed himself was a mere weakling.

He put music ahead of the well being of his students. He was a sociopath but he got results.

Shame he wasted his work ethic on faggy fuckin jazz. Why would a tough guy like him care so much about a such a shitty music genre?

He's a nazi faggot

He's a commie faggot

>nazi

>commie

DISIPRINE

he was eternally assbothered by the paradox of teaching music and expecting talent l m a o

He's like Gordon Ramsey but music not food

name a better genre

>not watching OZ
>not knowing he played Schillinger, the head of the nazi brotherhood and a notorious man rapist

this tbqh

Perfection is the antithesis of Jazz.

nightcore

I still don't understand the scene where he was asking if Andrew was Russian or Dragon. Did he think Andrew was a communist spy? That plot point never really went anywhere.

He was an evil guy who wanted to save the world of music.

>Drove a kid to commit suicide over drumming
>Is exploiting mentally ill protagonist over drumming

Can you think of a more evil person?

lolicore

If he decided to kill himself he deserved it, since he was obviously too weak to handle harshness of life.

heavy metal

Metal.

lol guys he is just a tough composer, thats it.

He's a commie faggot

he was a failure of a jazz musician, playing at the local coffee shop, but he tried to 'redeem' himself by riding the coattails of a great jazz musician. he referenced the Charlie Parker cymbal toss, and he wanted to be a similar catalyst that created a Great.

but the kid in whiplash was great regardless. he was already practicing hard, without the help of the instructor. he already had the talent and dedication inside him. in the end, the only thing the instructor did to help the kid's career was give him a spot at the performance at the end of the movie. yes, the instructor wanted to destroy the kid's career by performing in front of some big name critics, but that very same social networking allowed the kid's drum solo to be viewed by big name critics.

The kid gets one step closer to becoming a Great, the instructor gets his wish of being the catalyst in the story that people tell about the Great, but only because of social networking.

This, but i dont expect this board to know jack shit about music, let alone Jazz

>millennial are this sensitive

Spot on.
