haahaHAAHAHAHAHA

is color grading cinematography?

Did you really expect any kind of decent cinematography from easily one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises? Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

I'm not a fan of the colors used (reminds me of a Snyder flick) but they looked fantastic.

I think 4 had a good balance of colors.

5 was pushing it, 6 (as great as it looked) kinda where i wasn't a fan of the color pallet.

OP you're mistaken this board is for redditors to spam unfunny memes, not for talking about movies or moviemaking techniques.

KEK

Congrats OP, you combined the two most boring autistic topics on this board into one thread.

It's day time. No one lights candle for light in the middle of the day. Even if they did the light would given off by these candles would be dwarfed.

I agree. I enjoyed how the colors started vibrant in the beginning and slowly darkened over the course of the movie alongside the plot. Half Blood Prince was a visual masterpiece.

Good cinematography?
>Wanting to bring a different look to this film, director 'David Yates (II)' chose French cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel, known for his use of stylized color palettes that often feature prominent earthy tones. At first the film was extensively color graded and due to the overly dark tones, Warner Bros. asked Yates and Delbonnel to add more colors to the film, as they could barely see a thing on screen. Both Yates and Delbonnel were hesitant to do this at first, but after retouching some of the scenes Delbonnel realized that he had overused the grading and the final product was better. Yates remarked Delbonnel's work on the film as "The choice of angles, the extreme close-ups, the pacing of the scenes...It's very layered, incredibly rich."

Adorably hilarious

That's why it was nominated for a cinematography oscar

Was something in this post suppose to refute this?
