The latest Oxbow album was released with a limited edition book that had lyrics, notes, and photos detailing the writing and recording. It also had little blurbs from friends of the band writing out fun memories and anecdotes about how they know each other, and what they think of the music.
Albini worked with Oxbow before and wrote a brief letter about the guys. But the whole thing starts with him very deliberately explaining about how he doesn't actually know if the band spells its name "Oxbow" or "Ox Bow" and he refuses to trouble himself to find out before writing the rest of his letter.
Even when Albini is doing something nice, he has a fucking pathological need to be perceived as aloof and dickish. The irony being that once you have a few data points like this story, it paints a picture of someone who desperately cares more what you think about them way more than the average person.
