We give billions in aid to less fortunate countries. We help with anti drug operations in Mexico and south America. We gave our lives in Korea and Vietnam just to save the gooks from communism. We offered democracy to iraq and Afghanistan. We sent our men to fight the warlords in Somalia. And much more. And all for a world that stand us in the back at its first chance.

If America had been able to secure South Vietnam's soveirgnty they'd be the same, or almost the same, as South Korea currently.

Communism degrades the living standards of a country.
While it's good short term, and might improve their conditions for the first few years, after a while it will reach the inevitable point where it can not grow, and they would either have to adopt capitalistic elements or they will face economic turmoil
