What would you realistically do in this situation?

What would you realistically do in this situation?

Bump

Who am I supposed to be in this situation?

Protagonist

Well who is the protagonist?
I can figure out the rest of the story
Couple on the left got a flat tire, are in a fight about whos fault it is they forgot the wrench
Couple on the right stopped to help, but they want to charge them for using the wrench and they are waiting while angry faggot couple is arguing among themselves

kill two other guys, have sex with girl, kill her, drive away

what movie is this from?

The exact same thing. That is what makes this a great kino.

havent seen the movie but I'm guessing jake is protag, he and amy adams' car broke down or some shit, the two guys are some rough dudes and they sexually harass amy for sexual favours

Nocturnal animals

if you were armed in a situation like that, at what point would you take out your gun and threaten them?

Wife and daughter is being preped for rape while jake stands around the events leading to it and takes it like some frozen cuck

unsheathe my katana obviously

is this movie any good?

Pray to Jesus for guidance of course!

*takes off glasses*
fight. they didn't even have guns. prob loose, but still better than what jg did.

It is great kino, but i think the protag handled it like a beta. I think with guys like these you gotta be a "bro" with them, offer to pay them when we get to town and be friendly and joking, try and win them over. Of course that's a lot more difficult when your daughter's being an antagonistic piece of shit

it is

Is it "Enemy" good or actually good

When they first start laying hands on my family. Even when they started calling them bitches it warranted a bullet each down their legs

>*teleport behind chad*
>"nothing personal"
>unleash a thousand katana slashes
>*wipe blade on chad's camo hat*
>"you should not have messed with me"

It really is. Don't spoil yourself btw

>try and win them over
They were out to do something like that, though. The guy who was in the car with Jake said they'd done it a bunch of times, and the cop said they were suspects in a bunch of cases. It wasn't like it was an argument that he could have talked his way out of, those dudes ran Jake off the road specifically to rape his wife and daughter. He couldn't have won them over.

And really, there wasn't much he could have done about it. It was just him (and his wife and daughter, who were useless in the situation) against three possibly armed men with bad intentions.

>when you were fit, people said you look like Jake Gyllenhaal
>now that you're skinnyfat, people say you look like Tobey Maguire

It's a rough feel, brehs

Lay on my horn as I drove by. They need to be farther off the road so they don't get hit by a car.

Teleport behind them.
>psssh...nothin personnel...kid...

redhead daughter wasn't wearing a bra in the scene :b

You're retarded, retard

The point was that Tony was a pussy coward.

Throw elbows, pick up a rock, go for the crowbar,

Tony's a faggot

They would smell the fake broness miles before you realise that. They kinda played with that in the movie since jake wasn't playing bro but he went beta route. Also its probably pointless since theres no way you could slither from that damage they inflicted to him to stop the car; daughters middle finger and cop calling

>They were out to do something like that
>those dudes ran Jake off the road specifically to rape his wife and daughter
I agree with your first statement but not with your second. I think they were out there to do some harm, but I also think there were times when that could have been diverted from that with a proper (and obviously, very lucky) sequence of events. I'd say that was the nature of the main bad guy, he was fickle and chaotic and it was not impossible (though still difficult) to win over
But yeah odds were against him for sure

>tfw you don't need a license to carry guns where you live
Pshhh... Nothing personnel kid

Is the screener that's out good? I heard the chinese censored some shit, should I wait for a bette rip?

I would go to the cinema but it's not playing anywhere in my city.

What was the point of the highway shots at the beginning of the movie ?

>should I wait for a bette rip?

yes

>smell the fake broness
I've talked my way out of DUIs and speeding tickets before because I bro'd it up with the cops, and out of beatings in bars as well. I'm not saying it'd 100% work, but that would be my go-to. I felt the situation wasnt FUBAR until he ran after that cop car. that was the nail in the coffin.

Literally anything. Which is the exact oppisite of what jake did

I don't know you very well but that does sound like something you would do.

well 2bh there wasnt anything he could do about it

Fucking hell I really want to see some of these Oscar movies, I only got to go to La La Land and Hacksaw in cinemas.

How come the screeners didn't leak this year? Waiting for this, Moonlight and Manchester.

Was horribly syncd. V7 A5

Beat the fuck of absolutely everyone there, then i would roam the highway looking for more faggot to btfo.

That movie event made me feel the same way after watching Funny Games. So helpless

I kinda expected a twist. That it would end up not the rednecks that do the murder rape but the dude they were driving by before on the road. And they seriously just escorted girls to so motel and then went to get the husband. Even harassingly but still let them go

im pretty sure those guys had already decided what to do before they forced him off the road. was pretty shitty watching that scene, felt so helpless

I disagree, but either way could be correct, your theory has a lot of solid evidence behind it as well. I think they did get lucky that his tire was out, otherwise he could have driven away.
Either way that scene was very agitating in the best way, I was sweating and shifting in my seat and had this huge sense of dread, but with a hope that things would somehow be saved, which I think made it that much more fucked when they died.

just finished watching this film, the point is he's supposed to be weak, nothing he could have done.
personally i'd have some sort of weapon close to hand if i was driving through that part of the US, probably end up dead but oh well at least i didn't let it happen

the women deserved it

You know, this is what modern horror lacks. A real sense of dread creeping up on the character as well as the audience. You know they're fucked and the characters know it too. The tension is so fucking thick you could saw it off in chunks.

Absolutely, I completely agree. The last time I felt a similar dread was during Whiplash, but that was a different sort. I think a horror movie that gets dread right is Carpenter's The Thing, or The Shining.

I loved the difference in interactions between the rednecks, and jake's beta and shannon's cop. when shannon leaves the room they just revert back., kniwing jake is a bitch.

>I think a horror movie that gets dread right is Carpenter's The Thing, or The Shining.
Exactly. I think It Follows actually nails this impending sense of doom as well. I mean, you know you can outrun the thing, but you're always gonna be paranoid about it catching up to you. Especially when you're asleep.

I had a theory that the thing from It Follows will actually wait for you to wake up if it catches up just so that you can experience the terror. Has there ever been any type of horror where the character gets a good night of sleep finally, but as soon as they awake, they're in the killer/monster's clutches?

It was horrible when the cars started backing him off the road - I was thinking throughout the whole scene exactly what I would do.

Probably do my best to stay on the road in the car, refuse to let the girls out of the locked car, and worst case tell them to run off into the desert.

At the same time Jake can hardly be blamed.

no one cares

I guess in Saw they all wake up in and they're in the trap...or how Freddie Kreuger waits till you sleep? But yeah I don't know if that's a thing, pretty interesting idea; I didn't see It Follows, sounds like you'd recommend?
>I was thinking throughout the whole scene exactly what I would do.
Me too, user. My brain was going overdrive, and just thinking fuckfuckfuckfuck the entire time. Fight or flight response, man

Partially nightmare on elm street does that

You def should check out It Follows. Don't expect much from indie movie but it's good to make your own opinion about a cool concept. Also Funny Games creates unavoidable dread / impending doom feeling so you could see that one aswell if not already familiar.

Same thing i did in high school when three Samoans were pushing my little brother around

>Step in, mate why are you looking for trouble
>Smallest one steps up, what are you gonna do
>Headbutt him, his nose starts bleeding immediately
>Other two rush me, get one decent hit on the first dudes jaw to stop him for a second
>Not enough time to throw a punch at the second
>Proceed to get my arse stomped

In the OP photo a solid head butt could put the first guy down, then if he rushes the one near his daughter he might get lucky and be able to push him over and kick him in the face or get lucky and knock him out with one

Then its 1v1 for the last dude

Why the fuck would anyone be traveling on a country road at night? Especially if you have your attractive wife and nubile daughter?

I've heard enough of true crime stories that you NEVER travel on roads that don't have much traffic and other witnesses to see what's going on. Only travel by daylight and within quick response time of the authorities.

He should've just stayed at a motel or something.

What kind of fucking shut in are you? Don't travel on the road at night, man...you are autistic for real yeah?

>Funny Games
Oh yeah, that film made me very uncomfortable.

This is what modern horror needs. No jump scares which is flash in a pan. It needs slow but steady build-up to that sinking feel that you are seriously fucked. And it doesn't matter what rational or realistic choice you make, you are still going to be fucked over.

I've traveled at night, but never on a deserted highway in the countryside. Too much shit could happen.

Oppress a negro

>I felt the situation wasnt FUBAR until he ran after that cop car. that was the nail in the coffin.
Yeah that was when they realized this family was easy pickings and that the dad was a pushover.

Enemy in twice as good as this movie.

toby is cuter. Jake Gyllenhal is weird looking

>live in texas
>don't own a gun

he deserves what happens to him

What would've happened if another motorist stopped by to help? Say it was a young guy who was in reasonable shape and size? Would the guys still risk it or would they figure this might be a hassle?

bd rip when

They'd probably have left. People in the act of committing crimes generally don't like getting interrupted, especially by people who could easily go to the police.

You got your ass kicked. So would Jake. And then the rednecks would be pissed off, and still free to do whatever they wanted with the wife and daughter. Plus, the other two could have easily gotten to the girls while jake was engaged with person he decided to attack. It would have ended the same way, except with Jake dead, too.

I would have stayed a good distance away when it was obvious they were blocking the road. If they stopped in the middle of the road then I'd go around them and floor it.

Imagine if he had a Rick Grimes moment and bites the throat of that 1 guy? Would that spook the other 2 enough to leave the family alone?

heem them both stiff

schaub bless

jake fucked up so much, he should have driven away after they made him pull over, he should have gone crazy when he realised how fucked his situation was and at the very least he should have tortured that one guy that he was driving with

This. You can't live in a third world shithole like Texas without a gun. Too many other people have guns. You need more guns to protect yourself from all the gun owners.

ok no one wants to talk about gun control in this thread kid

since this scene was supposed to be how jake's character felt about his divorce from Amy Adams, does this mean that Jake wanted to hunt down Amy Adams current husband with the help of a gruff but loyal Texas sheriff?

once you tell them to go away and they dont desu, youre in the middle of nowhere and its your word against theirs

Maybe, but I thought it had more to do with feeling helpless about the relationship ending, and channeling that into a search for meaning and closure from it.

Isn't the dude with the hat young Ned from Game of Thrones?

KNOCK THAT MANLET DAFUK OUTT
