Now that the dust has settled

Now that the dust has settled,

How was it?

It was fine

It's shit.

Better than VII

I thoroughly enjoyed the Halo: Reach Movie Tbh

Better than 7

First two-thirds: Shit
Last third: Eh decent fanservice I guess

Overall: A mistake

I was so bored I almost walked out of the theater.

A bit too much of a marathon?

How were people bored by this movie? I found it mostly entertaining. Do you have add or something?

does it really matter? this kind of thing is not really made to be criticized or analyzed

It was okay

tryhard, dissappointing on purpose, would have been better with more espionage and focus on places like Jedha instead of

>REINFORCEMENTS HERE

still, 6.5/10

Really enjoyed it, infinitely better than TFA. I'd say a solid 8/10.

Dumb but fun
more entertaining than VII

Really good movie. Better than Force Awakens.

it wasn't perfect but it was better than TFA in literally every single way

This.

the movie had a great depiction of war because everyone dies in this film

Is it possible for you to state your opinion without bashing another film?

Fun film, 8/10. Enjoyed it more than TFA.

it was ok, 6/10
movie would have been utterly forgettable if not for the vader scene

>implying rogue one had any good characters, writing, acting, or anything besides action

I liked it. I wish there was more SW movies with less jedi/sith shit and just focused on the grunts or spys

>all this parroting

Jeez

Yup.

It was ok, CGI was fine, last 30 min was good.

>Only people who hate it are rabid fan boys

>Only people who love it are rabid fan boys

It's just ok

i didn't say it had good characters, writing, acting

but it's characters, writing, and acting were much better than tfa. and in addition, it did have good action, much better action than tfa. hence my post saying it was better than TFA in every single way.

>People have an opinion
JEEEEZ

It was fine. I wasn't too invested in any of the characters but that was made up for by the mindless explosions and spaceship fights at the end.

At least it wasn't just a beat for beat remake of episode 4 like 7 was.

>unironically using "CGI was fine" as an argument

I want Disney shills to leave.

Way better than force awakens. Don't know if that necessarily means anything though.

>this kind of thing is not really made to be criticized or analyzed
Do you know nothing of the Star Wars fanbase? Every frame of this movie will be pored over for decades

Tied for third best Star Wars movie
5 > 4 > 6 = Rogue One > 3 >= 7 > 2 > 1
Prove me wrong
Pro-tip: You can't

Easily a 8/10. Blows Force Awakens away. Rogue was quite entertaining.

definition of a 5/10

Me personally, I loved this film.

No, i used it because people on here who most likely only saw a cam rip constantly complained, there was like 7 fucking threads a day about the CGI for the first week the movie was out

Pretty good film. Had Disney opened with this film instead of the shitshow that was The Force Awakens, I might not be as cynical toward Disney's treatment of the franchise.

Action doesn't interest me if I don't care about the characters or the story.

And yes I probably have ADHD.

Love it, great film. 8/10.

>every single way
Here are a few ways: Daisy Ridley is a better actor with more to do than Felicity Jones. Kylo Ren is a better written character than any character in RO. Finn is more believable and relatable than any character in RO. BB-8 is more charming and clever than K2SO.

I know you're being hyperbolic to prove a point and you want to fit in on Sup Forums (for some reason), but saying RO is better in literally every way is patently false.

I feel like with al these characters and the kind of story it tells, it would have worked much better as a series, even just one season of like 8 or 10 episodes. The movie introduces far too many characters and then doesn't do anything to make them interesting or make the audience give a shit about them.

I think it was really entertaining, some of the side characters were forgettable but overall good. A worthy 8/10 for Rogue One.

>Daisy Ridley is a better actor with more to do than Felicity Jones.
literally stopped reading there, go back to redit.

>Daisy Ridley is a better actor
stopped reading

Quite fun, the Pilot guy was shit but liked everyone else. I-I-I I'M THE PILOOOT.

Why do people like episode I but dish on this. Rogue One is way better.

8/10

6/10.

Shitty movie in terms of story, characters, writing etc.

But solid nostalgia porn. Looks great too.

Glad I saw it at the movies, doubly glad I didn't pay for it.

Most of ur post is dumb bullshit but the part about Finn is triggering me.

Finn is not believable in any way. He's a young man who was raised entirely in a military cult on the fringe part of the galaxy, totally secluded from normal society, culture, behaviour, and morals. He was so secluded that he didn't even have a name, Poe gave him the name Finn. And yet, his character and behaviour are completely at odds with his backstory and he acts and sounds like some random college guy you'd meet at a party. His character is entirely at odds with his character's story and he is the least believable of all of the characters.

The middle was sluggish as fuck. The Jeddah second action scene/attack on Galen's lab was utterly pointless and monotonous (not the idea of it getting bombed by rebels - just the extended action) and then you also had all those pointless scenes with Tarkin and that weird waste of time with Vader and Krenic.

I wanted to rewatch it and the plot wasn't a complete mess so it was better than TFA in my opinion. I didn't care for Rey and the black storm trooper more than any of the characters in Rogue One.

>scowl at the camera and be a bitch to every character she meets
vs.
>charismatic, wide range of emotions, convincing character development
Not a tough call here. Maybe one day you'll be brave enough to disagree with the other neckbeards on an anonymous Mongolian stamp collecting forum

>Glad I saw it at the movies, doubly glad I didn't pay for it.
edgy

This. Finn might make sense in Rogue One or The O.T.

In the sequels it's entirely off. They would be like Nazi holdouts in South America.

It was actually decent. Way better than TFA.

>>charismatic, wide range of emotions, convincing character development

Can you give me an explanation of what is edgy about that post?

I don't understand this meme yet.

>charismatic, wide range of emotions, convincing character development
>charismatic
>wide range of emotions
>character development

The movie was pretty average. Too many "main" characters who didn't actually serve a purpose except for pressing a button right at the last second
They could have made it better if they'd either removed Jyn and altered the story to fit Cassian, or gotten rid of the blind guy and his b-sidekick to open up more time for developing the characters that actually mattered..

wow your scathing reaction image sure has swayed my opinion, rational arguments out of the way this guy's got smug pics saved on his computer

It was okay. Darth Vader's scene at the end was done well.

That one scene on the planet where the officer was demanding to know which of the scientists leaked their info was right out of MGS:GZ though.

It was decent the one time I watched it. I have no desire to see it again though. The finale was well done, but everything else is too generic to have much of an impact.

I agree, it looked great, had that same dirty feel the original had.
I would of liked it more if they hadn't showed CGI Cushing so much

They could have extended Jeddah, like the opening of Jedi, killed the religious chinese guys then. Shortened some of the useless shit in the middle like the action scene on the lab planet in the rain and all the Tarkin, Krenic, Vader shit.

Rey is devoid of charisma and her character has one emotion: snarky quipping.

Her character also has no arc. She starts the movie as quippy young Mary Sue who can do everything effortlessly and she ends the film as quippy young Mary Sue who can do everything effortlessly. The Force Awakens is entirely shit, it's one of the worst Star Wars films of all time.

And if you're going to talk about Rogue One, Jyn does have some form of character development in the film and it actually resembles Han's character development in the original trilogy: rough rogue character who matures and starts to believe in things greater than what's immediately in her personal life.

Meh, average at best. Some cool effects and action scene, but that's it.
Alreadyforgothalfofit/10

Just watched it. I'm thankful I didn't spend much on the tickets (got'em for $1).
It's shit.

>remove blind chinese guy and his bodyguard
>dedicate their onscreen time to better developing the characters that are actually relevant
>movie is now 60% better
too many characters
no fucks given about any of them

Anyone else cringe every time he did this?

>>remove saw and arab pilot
ftfy*

RLM (RedLetterMedia on youtube) did a couple reviews of it - I'd recommend checking those out.

Saw is somewhat relevant as an ex-Rebel and part of Jyn's past, and the pilot is relevant as, well, the fucking pilot

Chirrut and his buddy show up out of nowhere, for no reason, and serve no purpose in the plot. They are completely dispensable

Except Saw is in one character out of all of them who has appeared in Disney Star Wars Canon of both Clone Wars and Rebels.

I guess Galen Erso appeared in a book or two as well.

They pissed me off with their last two videos. Not because I disagree with their opinion, but how lofty and salty they are when their subscribers don't take everything they say as 100% unquestionable truth. Especially with Mike's strange hypocritical logic.

>Most viewed videos are critiques of prequel trilogy, where he constantly lambasted how they should never explain the Force.
>Complains in Rogue One they didn't explain what the Force was.
>When his logic holes are brought up in comments, he makes another video to counter these points by insulting their subscribers, the reason they make money.

Alrighty then.

Much better than force awakens. I absolutely loved it.

I saw it twice, Rogue One wasn't some genre defining film that everyone has to see but it's definitely one of the better Star Wars films.

I might be a little biased because I've been waiting for more OT era movies since childhood though.

It was a trainwreck there just to pander references. Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't have a clip of Thrawn and Boba Fett playing Hungry Hungry Hippos for no reason at all.

They saved that scene for the Director's Cut

Boring, better than TFA as it was at least somewhat original.

Did the hammerhead ship go down with the star destroyers?

yes

bad
