What is it about blues music that’s so addictive?
Like fuck guys, I’ve been listening to nothing but Robert Johnson, John Hurt, and Skip James for months now. Not only is the rhythm great but the lyrics actually speak to me.

You're a real music fan. Great choice of artists, and many more to go. Try Leadbelly to get at the start. Robert Johnson is the bomb.
Howlin wolf muddy waters and Skippy Mayberry great delta blues right there

Blues is good, but I actually prefer blues rock over blues.

Tommy Johnson is also classic. The whole "selling your soul at the crossroads" myth actually came from him before Robert (no relation)

Love Abner Jay definitely one of a kind. Henry Thomas is also another gem. Instead of playing harmonica he used quills. God knows where may have got them

I know me too, Dion. Thanks for showing me
At least Carlin was funny, unlike him.
Its minimalistic and repetitive in a beautiful way. its hard to find great blues albums though. it was a genre that thrived on loose singles. there are a bunch of good albums like Wolf's first two records, Muddy's After the rain and Hard Again, etc etc but most of the good stuff is in compilations.
Also, what is the most underrated Robert Johnson song and why is it Dead shrimp blues?
Is phonograph blues considered underrated? the line 'what evil have a done, what evil has the poor girl heard' gives me chills.
got the blues maybe
Blues is the least soy of all genres. Congratulations.
