>no fhd
won't watch it desu

>Modern Era
But the greatest of them all

>Old era
Pele

You can't compare footballers of the old era to the modern one. It was almost a different sport. The ball was many times heavier and tougher, and the refs were much more permissive since the media couldn't talk shit about murder ball as much with no super HD and instant replays.

>i rate Zidane

>The best
Ronaldinho
>The greatest
Messi

I've seen a video comparing Pelé to modern footballers and the man did everything that the top footballers from nowadays do, I can't find it but it's unbelievable, he was truly the GOAT, even though he is a piece of shit now

only players ive seen, for me its Ronaldinho with Messi close second.

>the greatest
>not even a single mickey mouse cup for his nt

I fell in love with the sport when i saw ronaldinho doing what seemed impossible to me with the ball. pure charm, skill and a big smile. he will always be the goat for me. Messi is a close second cause memes aside the man is really good, but i really dont understand how the fuck they cant get even a copa america.

This. Also there were no red cards. The game was much rougher and slower, it involved different skills.

>Zidane
weak era babby that would've been Ribery tier in these times

It's Gianna Michaels you fucking retard.

Here's the official top. Anything diferent than this is bullshit

WITH THE BALL ON THE FEET

1. Lionel Messi
2. Ronaldo 9
3. Maradona
4. Pelé
5. Cruyff

TROPHIES, NAME, MEMES,RECORDS,STATS

1. CR7
2. Messi
3. Pelé
4. Ronaldinho
5. Maradona

Anything diferent than this is bullshit

the best

...

For me, 06' dinho is the goatest anyone has ever goated. Then probably a couple messi seasons, then unironically, 12/13 suarez.

Speaking purely in terms of peak seasons not career long performance.

I actually agree on that list.

But tbf CR7 would win the 2nd list on MEMES alone.

Ok thats a fair point, what do you think was the best one in the modern era?

b-but muh Zizou

For me, it's Marcelo Balboa.

jesus, how old are you?

1.
2.
3.
>99
>Zidane

It's CR7 and it makes me throw up in my mouth a little to admit it

Any other answer than Maradona is incorrect. This is a fact, unless you're a fucking child

Maradona > Pelé > Messi > Ronaldinho > Zidane > Ronaldo > Tsunaldo

>lying cheater
>good
lel

Messi. Not only is he the most talented, but he beats them all when it comes to stats, consistency and longevity.

OG Ronaldo could have made it a proper argument between the two if he was able to stay injury free and professional throughout his career, but he didn't.

TSUUUUU

the only thing messi doesn't have is leadership skills or international trophies, which makes him irrelevant in the competition.

you can argue he is the most talented, but he is not and never will be the GOAT.

No he wasn't.
The ball back then was trash, the pitches were trash, the shoes were trash, the training facilities and methods were trash, the fitness experts were trash, the tactics were trash and trainers were trash.
You just didn't have the possibilities you have today. With modern technology the precision you can have in your play makes the "skillcap" way higher.
This is a multi billion dollar industry with armies of professionals doing everything they can to squeeze the last drop of skill out of these players.
Just like almost every olympic discipline has gotter better and better results with time.
Maybe Pele had the most talent ever, maybe if he played today he would be the best, but he played in shit conditions against horrible defenders.
If you think the best team 60 years ago wouldn't lose 10:0 against top teams today you are a delusional idiot.
This doesn't take away the accomplishments of the greats back in the day or what they did for the sport, but ignoring the natural evolution of these thing is laughable

so, according to this, old ones like pele, ronaldo, zidane, cryuff and maradona aint got shit on the likes of messi, TSUnaldo, isco and neymar?

>Just like almost every olympic discipline has gotter better and better results with time.

almost half of the olympics WR are from 30 or 40 years ago. like javelin trow, high jump. triple jump, long jump etc

Did you read my post?
Did all of these play at the same time?
The average level of skill has risen over time. The great players stand out in comparision to their peers.
So players who played 10 years ago aren't so different.
But players who played 60 fucking years do not hold up. Like i said it's not that a messi born 60 years ago would be any different, but the sport and skill level changed and it's retarded to really compare these players.

are you retarded. that's because there were no PED regulations, and the cold war made the USSR and US turn their athletes into freakish monsters.

This is bullshit beacuse conditions dont matter. The skill of the players is what matter. If Pele back in his days was a god, its beacuse he fucking earned, he had the skill to be considered that. The fact that there are better players, and better deffenders today doesnt change the fat that God tier players from 60 years ago where extremly good, and thus, can be compared to today´s players based on their skills.

Unironically Landon Donovan. Even better than tsu at carrying a shitty NT. World beater Donovan is the best footballer we will see in a long time

This

Also what i said doesn't mean that every single year the records of last year have to be broken.
But as time goes on athletes should statistically have a harder and harder time breaking records. This is not the case, because technique and training improves and pushes the boundaries of what is possible.

You are generally right. But your last point contradicts everything else. Yes they played great in their time with what they were given, but precisely because of the reasons you listed they shouldn't be compared to todays players.
It's not a fair comparision, but if you want to still do it, saying Pele is better than a Messi is meme bullshit.
Imagine this for example. This sport and humas evolve for another 200 years. Steriod use has been allowed just like genetic modification and technological enhancement. You now have 8 foot cyborgs running across the pitch at 50 km/h. You think modern footballers would have a chance against that? No they wouldn't. Would it take away from the achievement of the greats today? no it wouldn't. This is an extreme example but at it's core it's the same thing.
These comparisions are retarded.

I'm glad someone understands this.
Hopefully at some point you'll see why it's retarded to compare different players from different leagues, but from the same era too using the same kind of logic.
Once you realise that you'll realise how pointless the CL is.
After that you'll notice that winning a tournament (which is what the CL actually is), where one bad call or one run of good form can make all the difference, as opposed to winning a league (which is more difficult, though it depends on the quality of teams in that league which is explained by step 2).
Only after that will you realise how little the world cup actually means and (((why))) more and more pointless teams are added every 4 years.

One of the biggest issues people seem to have is understanding what a world class player is. When >Torres joined Chelsea all you heard for five seasons was "wait until he hits his form from 2007-2009", here we are in 2017 and he still hasn't done that, even in a meme league. Why? Because there's a difference between "form" and "peak". The same is true for Ronaldinho. Great to watch? For those three seasons he was was good, absolutely. The rest of the time? Not so much.
Robbie "Footlocker" Savage mentioned it when he was talking about marking Zola and others who were clearly better than him, and who were in most cases world class, but he managed to keep them quiet all game. Therefore, he claimed, that on those days he was world class. Everyone in the studio disagreed, especially Ian "Chicken Tonight" Wright, who told him so.
Footlocker tried to explain his point and asked if they would class Cannavaro or Maldini as world class when they kept world class players quiet, to which those on the floor agreed. Why? Because, as Chicken Tonight put it, they did it consistently and at a high level for their whole career.
How many of these meme players, at present or listed, can you even say that about while keeping step 2 in mind?
Goys will be goys I guess.

for me, its
Ronaldo El Fenomeno ● The Greatest Skills & Goals ||HD||

Players worked at the factory and drank beer and smoked cigarettes before during and after the games. The quality was absolute shit

1. Messi
2. Maradona
3. Pele
4. Di Stefano
5. Ronaldo
6. Garrincha
7. Iniesta
8. Zidane
9. Cruijff
10. Ronaldinho

Don't @me

Brazilian amateurs smoked European professionals.
South American football was much more competitive than European back then.
Just imagine if Pele had access to all the modern equipment players have nowadays.
Football was harder for many reasons, shit balls, shit boots, no red cards, murder ball everywhere...the list goes on.

1a. Zizou
1b. Totti
2. Maldini

Nobody else matters.

>implying Messi is to blame for how awful the rest of us are
pls

I don't believe it. An Amerifat who knows nothing about football

not sure Landon Donovan makes the top 50 m8

It's Messi or Maradona and anyone who names anyone else is wrong

Fellaini

Landon Donovan did more for the USMNT than any other player, including pulisic now and Dempsey combined. He literally carried that team and was just a bad penalty shootout away from bringing the U.S. to the QFs, and truly making us a football powerhouse. He was a true legend that retired too young to be honest.

Maradona

Forr me, it's Messi

just cause he doesnt watch as much porn as us doesnt make him stupid boy

Your "logic" is so fragile that a guy like Messi wouldn't even be a pro back in time. But you "can" bring Di Stefano to 2017 and give him all the bullshit that pro players got nowadays and he would be Argentina's #10 easily.

Old era:
Pelé, Garrincha, Didi, Nilton Santos, Rivellino, Zico, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Zoff.

Modern era:
Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Cristiano, Zizou, Iniesta, Maldini, Cafú, Buffon.

>Ronaldinho

He was consistent for 2-3 seasons until he started declining because of non-stop clubbing and alcohol. He's nowhere near those lads.

t. born in 1994

Di Stefano jaja

Why the fuck do some people think Ronaldinho was one of the best player ever? Is it because they started watching football during those maybe 5 years he was actually good and not just le cool dribble man?
Don't get me wrong he was a great player when he was on form but nowhere near other players cited in this thread.

Boniek

Ronaldinho is the most entertaining player I've ever witnessed. Nobody else has actively fucked with opposition players using just pure skill.

Kokorin

he never did anal right?

I liked chubby Brazilian Ronaldo he looked funny when he played.

>Ronaldinho
All of my kek. Very skillful player but absolutely nowhere near the GOAT status. GOAT for YouTube Amazing Skills | HD compilations maybe, but hardly the greatest footballer to ever walk the earth. Fun to watch though.
>Zidane
Genuine contender. Amazing technician, scored some godlike goals in important finals, but most importantly did all the simple things better than anyone else. Incredibly effective midfielder.
>Pele
Obviously a great finisher but he did it in a babby tier international era when Sweden were reaching World Cup finals and against literal who Brazilian clubs, all with no offsides.
>Maradona
Endlessly entertaining, amazing technician, not the most efficient player ever seen but arguable the most spectacular. Probably second on my list.
>Ronaldo
GOAT centre forward.
>Messi
Hands down the greatest footballer to ever walk this planet.
>TSUUUUUU
A great player who I can see going down as an all time top ten player in decades to come, but being the ultimate statpadder will never give you a greater legacy than those who make football into art (Messi, Maradona, etc). He could end up woth double the amount of career goals as Messi and still not be able to give you the feeling Messi does with those goals against Getafe or Bilbao.

>all with no offsides.

Stop talking shite. The offside rule has existed long before Pele's era

>mfw someone not from america calls it 'soccer'

Maybe, but she also didn't do blacks.
