if this counts as a western, No Country For Old Men is a western, and it's the best.

shut up with your evil movie, you satanic-trips bastard.

WRONG

True Grit, The Proposition and 3:10 to Yuma are all better

1. Unforgiven
2. Django Unchained
3. 3:10 to Yuma

The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and No Country For Old Men

Bone tomahawk? Seriously? Are you a fucking child? Thought so.

Top 3:

310 to Yuma
>OPEN FUCKING RANGE
Tombstone

These, desu senpai

Excuse me. Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford coming through.

>The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Most Boring Western

upboat for assassination of jesse james

I immediately dropped Django when I saw that Tarantino felt it acceptable to include rap in a fucking western.

Totally forgot about TAOJJBTCRF. I'm changing my number 3:

1. Unforgiven
2. Django Unchained
3. The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Le no country for old men meme must stop

1. Jeremiah Johnson
2. Unforgiven
3. No Country For Old Men
4. High Plains Drifter
5. The Outlaw Josey Wales
6. Brokeback Mountain

I don't know if you're memeing or not, but Brokeback Mountain is a damn good modern western. If you can look past the queer stuff.

They are neo-westerns, but they shouldn't count.

If that's the case then holy shit is the Western genre terrible.

There's no fucking resolution shown or had in it... Westerns have over the top endings, like hell or high water, not pseudo-existentialist drivel

>neo-western
Anything after the 60s is a neo-western.

open range was really good. also appaloosa

Appaloosa and he'll or high water are my faves from the past ten years

You are the first person ever to say that Hell of High Water has an over the top ending

>Not True Grit
>Not NCFOM
Fucking hell, you had one fucking job.

I was actually memeing but it is a good movie, if you FF thru the gay stuff.

No, it's a film that has a western feel but in a contemporary setting.
>Contemporary Western
>Also known as Neo-Westerns, these films have contemporary American settings, and they utilize Old West themes and motifs (a rebellious anti-hero, open plains and desert landscapes, and gunfights). For the most part, they still take place in the American West and reveal the progression of the Old West mentality into the late 20th and early 21st centuries. This subgenre often features Old West-type characters struggling with displacement in a "civilized" world that rejects their outdated brand of justice.

top kino of 2016
to be honest

More of a heist movie than a western. And yes, I know it draws on western cliches.

>Wikipedia
>the only citation is an interview with Vince Gilligan
Bravo.

1. No Country for Old Men
2. 3:10 to Yuma
3. There Will Be Blood
4. Bone Tomahawk
5. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
6. First 20 minutes of Revenant

Just admit you got BTFO and move on with life. It's pathetic seeing you try to backpedal and pretend you win

Western Genre is literally the best ever and still going strong

Assassination of Jesse James, Three Burials, True Grit, There will be Blood, NCFOM.

Then there are the smaller movies like Meeks Cutoff, Appaloosa, Slow West and ofc the Deadwood series.

Deadwood was a great show, even though if it drop in quallity in later seasons.

>try to backpedal
You're the one quoting wikipedia, user.
