>thinking anyone on Sup Forums even knows what techno is
house
Yeah we only listen to Post-Avant Garde Grindcore on this board
time and place.
when it's right, it's right.
Yeah it's weird. I really like house music, especially 'deep house'. I would imagine alot of the house I like boarders on the realm of techno (and suddenly it's morning has some songs that could arguably be more techno than house).
But for the most part techno is fuckjng lame and boring. Outside of John Hopkins immunity (one of my fav albums), it's literally the nu metal version of electronic music. Just reminds me of something that appeals to 90's gen x guys with frosted fringes who like the matrix and wear dumb small circular sunnies.
Dark ambient?
There are only so many ways you can make creepy atmospheric industrial music
Tech-house.
>*chord with drum hit*
>wait 15 seconds
>*same chord with drum hit*
How stoned do you have to be to write this shit?
Jon Hopkins is not techno
this board is
50% rock
40% hip hop
7% waaifuspam (masquerading as pop fans)
1% classical
1% jazz
1% /brit/ with youtube links
depends on the kind od techno. There are numerous techno records I really like, but there are even more that I hate. The thing is, techno can be really boring, or it can be totally mind blowing and emotional. just gotta find the right artists
lots of people post techno in /bleep/
Jon Hopkins isn't techno and neither are the 90's trance tracks you're describing
/bleep/ != Sup Forums
newfag detected. /bleep/ is a general on Sup Forums, not another board.
Well... i can only dance to latin music and techno... i guess english/american music is just to simple and lacks any rythm...

nice going op
i love boring techno
thanks for the recs dudes, never really been exposed to much techno so it's great to explore
epic dude
except its not the fucking 90s anymore and no one uses 'techno' as a catch all term now
woooosh
no, now it's "edm"
Or just ''electronic music''
Kpop, doom, sludge, death metal.
Which at least makes sense even if it's so large a set as to encompass basically everything and thus be a trivial classification.
I recommend starting with the 90s shit first
>literally the nu metal version of electronic music

I am totally clueless, wouldn't know where to start. (Maybe I simply completely missed it growing up but I never heard it much in England)
I'd be super grateful if could you rec a few artists
(Heard the SNTS set, loving the Planetary Assault Systems track right now)
>England
>never heard techno
How fucking young are you ?
everyone here is younger than you, turny
england is an electronic music mecca, you probably missed out by spending your life on the computer
22
Maybe I'm just confused at the term "techno", "techno" === "electronic music" to you guys?
You're confusing Berlin, Germany with England.
Have you ever been outside your house ?
>turny
is this an ebin Sup Forums meme?
Turny is a tripfag who posts here, who happens to be old. Usually posts his dusty charts of 90s rave music.
Luke Slater (Planetary Assault Systems) is not a bad place to start

just look up the classic detroit artists and releases and check out labels like tresor. in my opinion techno was at its greatest when the detroit influence was still strong and european labels were big
>folk
>country
correct
>slowcore
incorrect
assume I haven't, what would you rec to me
cheers dude
What genre is Four Tet? Because this is easily the worst and most boring album I've ever had the displeasure of listening to all the way through.
Every damn song on this album is masturbatory and builds up and up only for there to be absolutely no payoff. It's the musical equivalent of blue balls, made worse by there not being anything at all interesting about the composition of any of the songs.
many thanks
Yeah sterile sinister arpeggio loopy techno sucks balls but when it has good atmosphere and melody techno is legitimately the GOAT club music

Except there are lots of people that still do it. Learn the difference you dumbass rockist and get educated before you open your shit-filled mouth, fag.
Look up the youtube channel "hate". They regularly release new techno. As for artist reccs, look up:
regal
boston 168
perc
tommy four seven
remco beekwilder
eomac
blawan
ghost in the machine
fjaak
Your favourite genre
Though it's probably not strict pure techno, I really love the breakbeat inspired wonky shit. Labels like Sativae, Merchurochrome, Neue Heimat, Subhead and a lot of Tresor releases have some wicked tunes that nobody would consider boring.

one of the best things about techno is digging for releases and finding stuff that scratches the right itch
wrong opinion
one of my fav sets desu senpai
np. enjoy this track and mix. techno's a massive world of music and im glad whenever someone starts getting into it.
Techno is a genre with great potential, it all depends on what you do with it, OP.
I guess you could say that about any other genre, but soft rock is shit
it's always humbling when you discover the enormity of another scene you hadn't really tapped into before
Jesus the absolute fucking state of electronic music discussion and l knowledge on this board
Please stick to your same 10 p4k approved albums and entery level albums of genres.
I genuinley love you turny. Keep your autism up I get alot of good fucking rega from it.I
these are fucking useless without titles

Broken beat = bad music.
If it ain't broke don't break it.
lemme tell u sumfin
If you mean memehain techno or that shit richie/his friends play then sure
Otherwise there's some good variety in techno
idunno, Ostgut Tonträger has some pretty great artists. Dettmann, Ben Klock, Luke Slater. I can see what you mean though, Kompakt does the stripped down cocaine electronica better than the Berhain stuff.
>John Hopkins immunity (one of my fav albums)
