The takeaway message is that he WILL have to sanitize and tone down his campaign SOMEWHAT in order to directly court big donors.
He's needed to tone it down for a while now, regardless of that, and for the most part has already achieved that. Other than that he's been pretty squeeky clean the last few weeks, much better than how he was when it was still a republican race.

Trump will still be involved, so it will always be entertaining. Even during the Hillary speech he was cracking jokes and being jovial, he looked a lot like Reagan tbhfam. I'm sure Trump realizes how powerful it is as a politician to be engaging, someone that people actually want to hear speak. I highly doubt it will be run exactly like a traditional campaign, Manafort has always been an innovator.
