too soon to really say but La La Land, Moonlight, The Nice Guys, and Last Days in the Desert were all really good to me.

oh shit you're right. OP, we all noticed you put the turin horse with a bunch of good movies

this really shouldnt be controversial

2010 - Kickassia
2011 - Turin Horse
2012 - Django Unchained
2013 - To Boldly Flee
2014 - Whiplash
2015 - Birth of a Nation
2016 - Zootopia

Pretty pleb stuff desu

>2014

>2015

>2016

A lot of these are just because I can't remember what lesser known movies I've seen that came out in what year. I just googled "movies in 201x" and looked at the first 30 or so of those.

Huh. I'll have to check out Slow West and Killing Them Softly. Both looked cool but like they could also be really boring.
Nebraska was great.

Besides Drive, this is the most pleb list I have ever seen and 2010 was a plebkino year.

I too like memes.

Pls no bully
2010: Scott Pilgrim vs the World (Edgar Wright is the definition of 21st century kino)
2011: The Tree of Life
2012: Uncle Boonmee
2013: a very tough year to pick just one film. The Wolf of Wall Street is the one I've rewatched the most, so maybe that?
2014: The Grand Budapest Hotel
2015: Steve Jobs
2016: Too soon to call right now. Maybe in a few months...

The first 30 films on google's list are pleb tier what can I say? I've not seen any 2016 kino yet.

My favorite movies of all time are No Country, Synacdoche, New York and Gran Torino so idk what that says about me either.

2010: The Fighter
2011: Drive
2012: Django Unchained
2013: Prisoners
2014: Whiplash
2015: Fury Road
2016: I guess 10 Cloverfield Lane, but I still haven't seen Silence.

Clearly, I have a thing for Emily Blunt and buddy cop movies.

2010: The Other Guys
2011: X-Men: First Class
2012: 21 Jump Street
2013: Pacific Rim
2014: Edge of Tomorrow/Live Die Repeat
2015: Sicario
2016: The Nice Guys

Now that I think about it, even X-Men First Class is a buddy cop movie at times, with the way Prof. X and Magneto run around recruiting mutants. Something about that formula just appeals to me. Also Emily Blunt. God damn, that girl is fine.

sicario was indeed very good, else is shit

2010: Toy Story 3
2011: Drive
2012: The Cabin in the Woods
2013: Inside Llewyn Davis
2014: Birdman
2015: Inside Out
2016: Arrival

This movie is actually a metaphor for purgatory, and choosing, in the face of temptation between heaven or hell. See they take the bus to Spring Break (The Great Divorce by CS Lewis is referenced here) to this magical world seemingly free of consequences. It's almost Eden, but there is still some darker elements here. It's hedonism, but we are kind of detached from it as an audience. We are always outside looking in.

Now remember the quote from the Bible at the beginning, about god offering us a choice in the face of temptation. Well purgatory, in this context, is a way station for souls in between heaven and hell (that's why they say it's like a dream, and they never want to leave), but the whole point is you have to choose; you have to make a choice, and that choice affects where you stand. That's why Selena Gomez ("Faith") tells her grandma (obviously dead too, that's why she says she wants to come back with her next year) that you're supposed to find yourself here.

Meaning finding your true self. They are then faced with temptation, and the characters start running into tests, like Job. They are released from prison by Alien (Satan in the Garden of Eden) and taken to his "Kingdom" (he's from another world, remember). They have entered Hell, and his house is Pandæmonium from Paradise Lost. Faith realizes this, feels uncomfortable, gets on the bus, and leaves. She made the right choice and is saved for it. The others slowly descend into ruin until eventually, at the end, when they are driving on an empty road, with despair painted on their face, after talking to their parents about wanting to be Good, they realize that they have gone irreconcilably too far, and are now doomed to roam hell, having killed the former rulers.

Mars Needs Moms (ignore the retarded name) is a red-pilled commentary on modern day feminism taken too far.

>female aliens take over Mars, install communism and throw the males in the trash
>females now have to work for a living and don't have time to look after kids
>they have to steal prime earth women's minds to get nannybots to do it for them
>new generations are fucked up because of lack of traditional family
>colourful clothing is outlawed so unstylish ayy lmao's feelings don't get hurt
>white males from earth and a rebel alien girl restore the traditional family values.

2000s was such a strong decade.
The run ended in 2012 with the Avengers and every studio making cinematic universes plan.
2013 onwards was painful.

Decline of the author
Rise of the extended cinematic universe
Old guard refusing to retire
New generation of filmmakers not finding proeminence/not getting their deserved recognition.
European film in a slump.
Jap/Korean kino not really much better.
Nepotism/vanity projects much more present
The ending of a very good run of a string of anti hero tv shows
netflix peaks in quality, focuses on easy mainstream stuff as opposed to ambitious projects
Massive effort against mainstream piracy werbsites,no real kickass/torrentz/mega alternative and streaming sites closing left right/center
No real new interesting tech being pushed. We've had HD/flatscreens/BlueRay for fucking ever now. 4k isn't close to being mainstream and curved tvs are a meme.
Every tech/media/production studio/telecom company is pushing for dematerialisation and the complete loss of control of media for the end user.
Ads everywhere.
Still pushing 3D fucking films.
pre teaser/announcement/teaser/trailer/trailer2/trailer3 with all of youtube infested with reaction videos at every stage
social media whoring everywhere on the internet

This shit will continue well into the 2020s. There is at least another decade of this bullshit.
