Is it kino?

is it kino?

the biggest budget for an exploitation movie.

Opinions?

it's gay

explain yourself

It was intended to be a historical epic but then the director shot porn scenes and spliced them in so that it would be more interesting. Also it has naked Helen Mirren and Malcolm McDowell.

yeah I know I have watched it
I think its a masterpiece and a landmark for exploitation cinema

Was it real sex? Was it cumshot

I don't know but thanks for reminding me to jerk off to it

Woah you guys missing out!

There's a blowjob scene with ejaculation, a cunnilingus scene, and also Helen Mirren giving a titjob in the redux limited version.

Found this shit in my dads personal dvd collection, the cover looks like abaolute kino.

that stuff is nice but I liked it more for the gore and exploitation vibe. Also there is the guy from Salò who kills Caligula at the end. Great bro

The guy fucking the other with raw cattle fat was too much, but the sex scenes were epic. Produced by Penthouse and starring big hollywood stars like Peter O Toole that was unprecedented (even though the movie wasnt that good if my memory doesnt fail me). There is Lar Von Trier today occasionally making sexually daring movies with unsimulated sex and starring widely known actors but he's tasteful and knows to tell an actual story, meanwhile this was just straight porn and exploitation for the sake of it.

how many different fucking versions of this movie are there

Today theres Gasper Noe

This.

Not as """"respected"""" as Lars Von Trier but still a somewhat competent filmmaker pushing boundaries.

Trier pushes more boundaries and is basically an honorary hollywood moviemaker, meanwhile Gaspar is much less known and low key. Gaspar has never worked with someone as famous as Kidman, Labeouf, Dafoe, Dunst or Jack Bauer, nowhere near that

Nothing he's made could be labeled straight out porn. Just edgy arthouse not fit for mainstream audiences.

I have watched Gaspar Noe and Lars Von Trier and NO WAY. Caligula is fucking nuts and its from 1979 bros

It's a very flawed masterpiece, but those flaws add to the charm

Wasn't the original director Tinto Brass, it was the producer (and Penthouse publisher) Bob Guccione who shot the hardcore scenes.

yeah I mean its not Salò or The devils but its pretty great. I rated it as 8/10 while Salò or The devils would be 10/10 imo

Gore Vidal was so upset about the porn scenes that he had his name removed. Also his script was supposedly rewritten almost entirely.

in retrospective its not that hardcore I mean I would be proud of it. Maybe in the 80's it was scandalous
