youtube.com
>dat cinematography
>dat set design
>dat unique 2000s-era absurdist humor
>Grinch made money
>whats his other popular book we can try and cash in on?
Thats what they were thinking.
Mike Myers had previously starred in comedies that made money.
...I don't think executives can think any further than that, so the rest was just sort of an exercise of filling in the blanks.
Fuck your whore mother, cunt.
I agree user, but most great works are not understood in their time
Cat in the Hat will always be kino
Fuck it, I'm going up to the store right now to buy it
who was in the wrong here?
you might be disappointed, it really falls off hard when the third act starts, but the humor is consistent

Goddamn is Sup Forums finally on the mend?
What are some other family-friendly absurdist movies that are actually good? Off the top of my head;
>Scooby-Doo
>Goodburger
>Space Jam
Kung Pow
>family-friendly
The goal is Nickelodeon Channel movie-tier shit that's also really good
I thought Scooby-Doo was pretty great. I watched Space Jam again recently though and it was pretty bad unfortunately.

WAKE UP IN THE MORNING, FEELONG LIKE P DIDDY
I like napoleon dynamite, nacho libre, and gentlemen broncos and have no idea why they are hated so much
Jesus Christ Raimi
Not quite in the same vein but I want to say Speed Racer.
scooby-doo on zombie island was terrifying
Never Ending story
Beans
Is the book as bad as that movie?
have you never read the books?
I am not americano
You know this was better received outside of the US right? I know in the UK it did very well, and I think I know why.
In the UK, we don't grow up reading Dr Seuss like a lot of American kids, so any adaptation (no matter how far removed from the source) of a Dr Seuss book is not really critiqued negatively. We just don't care about his work as much as Americans do.
Meanwhile, Roald Dahl is a staple author for British kids, which is why the Tim Burton Willy Wonka film was rated so poorly here.
It was his punishment for not doing that snl movie.
Is the kupkake-inator supposed to look like bukkake?
the english accent was funny haha :)
Green Eggs and Ham feature film when?
i actually enjoyed this film and just took it as the mike myers vehicle that it was.
best bits were the 'cooking show', the pinyata scene, the lock being made in the phillipines, and the universal studios plug.
I've seen this movie maybe 3 times and that joke went completely over my head till now. Probably a bunch of other great things I didn't get till now.
I love The Emperor's New Groove, if that falls into that category.
i'm in the uk, i enjoyed cat in the hat and the grinch. never read a dr seuss book in my life. but stuff like the lorax is fucking dog shit.
>I've seen this movie maybe 3 times
for the love of god why
are you legitimately a retard living in a permanent care facility where you have no control over what you watch or did your parents just hate you?
K U P K A K E
>the Tim Burton Willy Wonka film was rated so poorly here.
that was rated poorly everywhere
I'm not saying all Dr Seuss films are good, I'm just we don't care when they aren't true to the source material because it's not something which is very common amongst British kids.
I, like you, didn't read Dr Seuss as a kid, so I don't really care, but I totally see why people don't like Cat in the Hat the film.
don't reply to me ever again lad
I seem to be talking out my ass.
According to Rotten Tomatoes,
Willy Wonka got 89% fresh
Charlie got 83% fresh
HOW

I guess we can toss that onto the "when the critics were completely fucking wrong" pile then.
it's embarassing
I saw this when I was 8 and don't remember a single thing.

Since I see that used here all the time I gotta say this movie is quite quotable.

Is this kino?
everything in that scene was stolen.
Cat in the Hat is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.
She's so fuckable in this
I watched this as a kid that could 'get' adult jokes and I fucking despised this movie.
Funnily enough it taught me to never actually be a fan of an actor again.
Dr. Seuss was the original SJW.
>just about everyone on Sup Forums loves cat in the hat
I fucking love you contrarian fucks
favorite kids comedy movie growing up
What was the British guys name in Amazing Discoveries?
Looks and feels like Adam Sandler trying to make a Wes Anderson movie
>"We need to secure a future for our white children, 14/88!"
What did he mean by this?
This looks awful, the Cat in the Hat is supposed to be a whimsical, cute, fun character.
He looks like a frightening, mean spirited asshole in this scene, if I were a little kid he would scare me and I would hate him.
>As an adult I know what kids like
>Not Kino in the Hat
desu baka family
