>band breaks up because their drummer died

>vocalist gets respiratory failure
>gets replaced in a heartbeat

>entire band dies
>they still tour

>vocalist has good rough vocals
>rest of band forces him to get singing lessons to sound like a pop star else they'll kick him out the band

>drummer dies
>band never replace him
>every consecutive album has no drums
>bassist dies
>same thing happens
>this continues until every band member is dead
>they release a posthumous album in 2018
>listen to it
>mfw it's 35:47 and eleven tracks of silence

>band was born dead
>still manages to release 2 studio albums

>band breaks up on stage

>band that had one moderately successful hit in the 60's is still touring
>only one original member is left and they play shows of about 40 people

>band is composed of five members
>each one is represented by a different label
>band sessions include lawyers from each label sitting in to make sure nobody plays riffs they aren't licensed to

Rough vocals = lack of musical talent

that sounds genius
is it real

musical talent =/= enjoyable music

Someday you will grow up. Unless you are just stupid.

>bassist leaves
>band needs two people to replace him

same to you buddy-o but why so confrontational there?

Because bad vocals need to die. They are perpetuated by two camps. One is the "muh energy" one and the other is the faggoty "relatable lyrics" one. You are in the better of the two. I hate mountain goats infinately more than I hate punk dorks.

I hate mountain goats vocals (and in general) too man
But "good vocals" - Adele is a technically proficient singer but she's so dull and boring to listen to. I prefer the vocals on It's Gonna Rain to anything by her, which aren't 'good vocals' but good use of voice nonetheless. Unless I'm misconstruing what you mean by 'good vocals' here.

>instrumentalist in band is lead singer
>he doesn't leave
>band get new lead singer in anyway

he's right though
the theoretical and technical facets of making music are absolutely skills on their own but what you use those skills to produce is a matter of taste that can't exactly be taught/learned

You can have technical and enjoyable. My favorite band is Jamiroquai. In no other band do you get masterclass bass playing, masterclass melody writing, and world class everything else. The mixture of rhythm and melody at the bpm they use commonly is fucking astounding. And every member cares so you don't get soul sucked producer backing tracks like Mars. I hate pop artists with shitty backing tracks of studio musicians who don't give a shit. It ruins Mariah Carey for me.

Silver Apples, right?

Pink Floyd?

I dislike people who lack them entirely and then stupid people eat it up on gimmicky lyrics.

>only one original member in the band left
>still makes music under the same name

I was thinking Hawkwind when they got Robert Calvert in the group

Can't deny that Jamiroquai is great desu

I'm not denying that you can have technical and enjoyable, only saying that those two form quite the venn diagram. I might be technically proficient at cookery, but I can still make a meal with food you despise in it.

that's a bit insensitive he's stopped now

Vocals can sound good while being technically bad. Are you saying all metal besides cheesy power metal is bad because the vocalists don't have opera-tier vocal styles?

>band has one main guy and a rotating cast of other members
>main guy dies
>final band of literally whos continue under the band name

Gong?

Absolutely. Metal is retarded.

commercial pop music isn't worth getting angry about. just let people have their fun.

Not exclusively, but yes

What do you listen to then, faggot?

Jamiroquai, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Wes Montgomery, Django Reinhardt, Electric Universe, Bee Gees, Willie Nelson, Albert Collins, Eternity Forever

Basically I outgrew angry music when I was like 16.

Classic Tangerine Dream

Also this

>taste like that
>lecturing other people on what's acceptable
absolutely pathetic

I applaud you for actually posting this

Dude you like metal. You have the mental capasity of a 14 year old.

>Basically I outgrew angry music when I was like 16.
This is textbook pretension, just so you know.

Name 15 bands that do this.

>capasity
O i am laffin

what band is this

Metal is awful but your taste is just as shitty, you scream pretentious hiker who will try to rape girls on tinder in the middle of nowhere

Look, I remember being angsty in high school thinking that metal was cool too. I wanted a masculine culture that my suburban white boy ass could glob onto just like the next white boy. And metal was great for that. It is a masculine identity that nerds and losers can affiliate themselves with that provides a sense of worth through a group identity. I just found my own when I was 16 and stopped listening to that crap. It's sold on image alone.

>mental capasity
Looks like we found the 14 year old.

Sounds like you're still clutching to image, just in the opposite way. You don't listen to it because you're scared of that exact image you're projecting because you're an insecure pretentious dick lmfao.

t. doesn't even like metal

That just isn’t true. Most music is sold on image and just like most music it factors into why metal is popular as well. I know this might be hard for you to hear but some people just like different things than you.

Well all pop music is sold on image really. From blues to country to pop to rap. It is about projecting an image of authenticity that your audience then relates to. I just dislike genres that completely lack talent. Metal honestly isn't that bad to be honest though. A lot of those guys know their shit and can fucking play. I just don't like the bad vocals and deliberate abrasiveness when they are capable of much more. Punk is far worse than metal because they aren't even capable of doing better. It's dogshit on another level.

Deliberate abrasiveness is as artistic as anything else.
That said I love screaming, I hate metal for screaming so pointlessly and emotionlessly.
Once it becomes just 'standard' for the genre to do a certain thing and every band does it for no real artistic reason other than 'that's what this genre is about' is when I give up on it.
And the bands that change up that style seem to only do it because they want to be different, not through their own volition.

Dude I actually love Glassjaw, I'm just fucking around. The thing is are you doing it because you have to or because you choose to? Daryl from Glassjaw can sing so when he chooses to scream I appreciate it. It's just if that is all you are capable of I look down on you.

Glassjaw is a good example, he's one of the metal musicians I like, Kyo from DEG is another example imo.
That's my main gripe on metal too, a lot of bands do it because if they don't they can't keep up with how metal every other band is and it's just a big metal competition to be the most masculine scary death machine or s/t

That's why I like skramz too because they kind of take out the hyper-masculinated bit.
e.g. youtu.be/k3afWds1WDA?t=5m55s

Dude have you heard his side project Color Film? It's fucking great. New Wave.

Name one hundred (100) bands that dont

The KLF

weren't they supposed to release new material last year? what happened there, I was pretty hyped

name literally one band that did this

death grips

They released a book, apparently. But that's exactly something they would do.

>band gradually loses members of the original lineup until it's one guy with three randos
>it actually improves

The Wiggles?

nirvana

Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, etc.

fucking hell this is embarrassing
>who is bob dylan
>who is tom waits
>what is 80s american underground

the OP is about this heat, i'm pretty sure

>band is (name) and the (plural noun)
>(name) dies
>(plural noun) continue touring for decades

>band has 18 members
>most of them are singers

>nirvana
>reunion shows

The Moody Blues - G. Edge is the only remaining founding member.

>pay $43 for tickets
>drive to the city in my state they are performing at for an hour and a half
>get ready too see some G R I P S
>they cancel last minute because the screamer is too hot

god damn it i will never forget when this happened

...

>band falls out and splits into two bands each with separate members of the original band

songs: ohia

delet this

>Band consists of multiple artists
>only one member is credited or recognized

Hermética
Sumo

Olivia Tremor Control maybe

I don't think any human being has ever tried as hard as you are trying right now... and clearly this is something you do all the time.
It's embarrassing.

What a sad picture...

this is what i'm gonna do if i'm ever in a band

kek

to be fair dylan doesn't have much in the way of actual *musical* talent
tom waits beats his point pretty well though yeah

barely
what a strange choice that was: if you want a technically excellent singer try someone like Mika a.k.a Michael Holbrook Penniman, Jr.
