Maiden fans in general seem to have awful taste in their own band. It's bizarre.
True, maiden is at it's best when they're doing high power catchy choruses and riffs and not the pseudo-prog shit. That said, somewhere in time is still a great album.
Maiden have forgotten the art of the 4 minute song and the 40 minute album.
Their first two albums are so amazing because there's not even a second wasted in them. Every song is focused and is over before it wears out it's welcome, making the whole CD fly by before you know it. Modern day Maiden has nothing but 8-15 minute long slogs that meander about. There's always a really great bit or two in a modern Maiden song, but it's always wrapped inside 6 minutes of filler. They need an editor to tell them to trim their shit.
