The underground punk scene requires real time active involvement, which is something most user are unwilling or incapable of doing due to poor social squills and retarded misanthropic beliefs.
Look at how any "punk" thread on Sup Forums revolves around bands from 30 years ago that you can find on any completely-out-of-touch Billboard or Rolling Stone "25 best punk bands of all time" article.
It's entirely from an armchair rock historian perspective, not from the perspective of someone who actually goes to punk shows.
