Unironically should've been a trilogy.

terrible director, over stylized

this

chickened out

should have made the big alien.

Your pleb ass watched it.

This.

They already cgi Manhatten dick, cgi trip to mars, and the usual Snyder filters of nothing feeling real. Its not like the huge alien would have taken me out of the movie or anything by that point.

also,
>adapting a 20 years old satire/analysis of the graphic medium directly to film without any explanation or reflection.

Pointless.

The soundtrack was fucking awful too.

wasnt that deep bro
I think people still got it

>The soundtrack was fucking awful too.

The opening montage set to Bob Dylan was perfect though.

for college age pretentious douchebags

>too fucking dark/blue

>no squid

>too much slow motion makes the movie way too long

>characters have super human abilities that weren't present in the comic

>poor acting at times

>shitty smiley face cameos shoved into too many scenes

>no black freighter unless you buy the ultra™ expanded™ directors™ cut™

>anything else I forgot

>

Not enough quips.

>zack snyder: no guise, it's now a satire of superhero movies. like, ozymandias' suit has nipples, like batman. isn't that awesome?

Big Alien was poorly excecuted even in the books.

Making Dr. Manhattan the framed threat was a much more cohesive plot twist and did a better job of justifying his decision to abandon earth.

If anything, I consider that THE point that the movie improved over the graphic novel.

So, Sup Forums?

>much more cohesive

Except for the part where a shitload of imagery and minor plot threads pointed towards the alien. In the movie it makes no sense to keep things like Bubastis or Veidt talking about Alexander if there's no pay off.

Why would Ozzy go through the effort of inventing an alien squid when he could just as easily frame Dr. Manhattan?

It was boring and uninteresting. I didn't care about the characters at all.

The rape scene was hot though, I had to fap right after.

>In the movie it makes no sense to keep things like Bubastis
I don't see why not. She was Adrian's only friend regardless and still served the purpose of showing the sacrifices that he was willing to make to achieve his utopia.

>Imagery
The imagery in the books was ultimately superfluous and easily removed. It doesn't matter how much you allude to a future plot point if the plot point itself is still bad.

The big alien was so fucking stupid, it gave the whole thing a kind of panache. It really helped define ozzy's character. That and the other shit that was cut out just leaves him as a stereotypical bad guy.

>The big alien was so fucking stupid, it was actually smart
No, it was so fucking stupid that it was stupid.

>That and the other shit that was cut out just leaves him as a stereotypical bad guy.
Ozy's trademark wasn't that he was flamboyant. It was that he was meticulous and concise.
There's a reason "It happened 45 minutes ago" the most renown point in the book; it's because that line is what genuinely defines him as a person.

ITT: squidfags get faggy over faggot squids.

My thoughts last time I rewatched the ultimate cut:
>main gripe is the slow-mo, it's obnoxious
>Black Freighter cartoon is actually intrusive and not worth it
>newsstand scenes are great though

Everything
Mostly Snyder being incompetent and misunderstanding the comic entirely

>too fucking dark/blue
This.
Nobody ever brings this up. For a movie based on a comic renowned for its use of color, this movie is nothing but browns, blues, and yellows. Why did Snyder think this was a good idea?

>Big Alien was poorly excecuted even in the books.
No it wasn't you fucking retard
Go read the comic some more so you actually understand what's going on

>a comic renowned for its use of color

The colors in Watchmen were shit and pretty hard on the eyes, to be quite candid.

Then again, most comics looked fucking gross until printing improved in the 90s...

he didn't invent anything, he brought an alien from another dimension, ultimately a defeatable threat that would unite humanity.

The less colors you use in your film the more mature it is duh. Why do you think all noir films are black and white?

I read the book first, dumbdumb. I know exactly what I'm talking about.

I don't care about the badly painted vagina's leading up to it. The idea that Ozy went through the effort of inventing his own alien when he already had a catalyst for planetary annihilation is dumb.

Framing Dr. Manhattan does a much better job of providing Manhattan motivation to leave and unifying the world against a single evil. It even ties in better with his earlier outbursts.

>The colors in Watchmen were shit
Dumb nigger.

Read the book. He invented the creature so that people would think it was an extraterrestrial threat.

Nothing. It was a good movie. They even changed the ending which I preferred over the comic.

Sorry, I'm not some homo who thinks bright purples, pinks and yellows belong together.

>The idea that Ozy went through the effort of inventing his own alien when he already had a catalyst for planetary annihilation is dumb.
So you didn't get it
Go read the comic more, I'm sure you will figure it out you're a smart boy

Feel free to explain what I didn't get.

If you're trying to convince anyone that you're right, you're flailing.

>these things that are in the original work aren't relevant even though they feature prominently!

lol faggot

I bet you touch yourself to ozymandias at night.

I liked it...

>Feel free to explain what I didn't get.
Nah fuck that I'm not here to spoonfeed you, not to mention I've written the same wall of text for other retards several times on this board.
Go read the archives or use google, I'm sure plenty of people have explained it.

Am I the only one who dislikes Zack Schnyder's "visual style"? Everything feels so soulless and lifeless like a David Finch or Nolan flick. It doesn't work for a superhero movie. Maybe an Ayn Rand movie... But i spent the whole movie wondering if this was supposed to be a realistic superhero movie like Nolanman because of the aesthetic but then you see glowing blue men and completely takes you out of the movie.i have no fucking idea why they gave this to Zack. Its probably because 300 did so well. The aesthetic doesnt fit. Would have been better with classic superhero movie aesethetic ala Donner. Rather than this Batman Forever shit.

The only reason the vagina brain references were relevant is because they alluded to a larger cataclysmic incident designed to unite humanity. Something which was still done adequately enough.

Vagina brain itself was not important, simply that a looming threat exist to unite mankind. Something which the movie accomplished in a much more concise manner.

Bye, faggot.

This in a nutshell for me.

A lot of the problems come back to Snyder. David Hayter was right that they wouldn't have gotten permission for an R rating without him but then again it's debatable if it needed an R rating. They would've needed to cut stuff but I'm not sure if they would've needed to cut as much stuff as the eye candy gore & sex he added having the freedom of an R rating

not him but the point is that ozy was a deranged, narcissistic megalomaniac. It's part of the fucking story. All of the "heroes" are caricatures

This reply makes no sense what so ever

Obviously.

So how, exactly, does framing Dr. Manhattan as a threat against mankind conflict with that?
If anything, it emphasizes that trait.

I liked it, but comics were 10/10

You basically stated you have nothing left to say.
Obviously, the smart thing to do would be for you to leave since you have nothing else to add to the discussion. So I'm saying "Bye".

>You basically stated you have nothing left to say.
No I basically stated that I don't spoonfeed retards, you are on the internet, use a fucking google and learn something instead of getting upset on anime forum.

Bye, faggot.

Not enough room in the movie for all of the story.

I don't know why you are this upset, really it's up to you if you want to educate yourself, I don't actually give a fuck if you are as dumb tomorrow or not.

I keep googling "why user is right about watchmen", but all that comes up are pictures of you sucking a different cock in each image.

Sorry, I guess you're too smart for me.

You became a shill for marlel and now you're triggered that your children flicks got outkino'd before they even started

It's a weird combination of being too literal while also taking too many liberties.

Read the fucking comic before you bitch about the movie you dipshit.

Never read the book but loved the film. But yes, some of the soundtrack was dumb.

Nothing, the best capeshit to date, better than Nolan

>I read the book first, dumbdumb. I know exactly what I'm talking about.

You clearly need to read it again and her post as well because she said SOME MORE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT'S GOING ON YOU FUCKING IDIOT!

I can't find the scene where Ozy talks about framing Dr. Manhattan for blwing up in the comic book.

Feel free to point it out to me.

>Framing Manhattan was a so much easier plot thread to follow, and resulted in bigger explosions. That's so much better than a giant squid, lol.

This is what younglings and retards who know nothing about the era-specific pop culture and historic themes Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons were playing with in the comic actually believe. Furthermore, it also ignores the significance of Ozymandias picking out such a "small" but iconic target in order to get his desired message across while keeping human cost at a minimum, but there in lies the real reason why we didn't get that: Either Hayter and Snyder didn't have the balls back then to put an event that would darkly mimic 9/11 on the screen, or the studio forbid them from doing so. Either way, Snyder has done little but make 9/11 porn since then to compensate, yet fails to actually say anything with it.

Saying "You're wrong" without actually refuting anything is poor form of argumentation.

I misquoted.

Why can't Disney just make movies this good?

Shut the fuck up jabroni you're wrong deal with it before I fuck you in the ass you stupid cheap jew son of a bitch.

>Framing Manhattan was a so much easier plot thread to follow,
"Coherent".

The word you're looking for is "Coherent".

>misunderstanding

They'd have to lower their standards to match Snyder's, which aren't that high to begin with.

youtube.com/watch?v=sNXohNU3tWo&t

Literally nothing went wrong

If Watchmen was made today by Snyder it'd probably end up being shit due to studio meddling.

>newspaper stand guy is covering the comic book guy from the blast

Dang,

Okay.

Bye, faggot.

Because shit makes more money

Go to bed alan. You stole the plot from outer limits because you had no idea how to end your funny book

I'M NOT A FAGGOT SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU DICK SUCKING CUNT SMUGGLING GAYLORD UNDERAGED REDDITOR Sup ForumsTARD BITCH SAGE EVERYONE SAGE THIS STUPID THREAD AND REPORT THIS FUCK DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE JUST FUCKING DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH I FUCKING HATE YOU SO MUCH WHY THE FUCK WON'T YOU JUST FUCKING DIE ALREADY HURRY UP YOU PUSSY DROP DEAD ALREADY DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE

>waah waah i get it but dont fucking expect me to say what it is i get because the comic operates at such a high level that it cant even be put into words

also stop samefagging you massive retard

Incoherent more like.
Wasted way more human lives and makes Ozymandias into a Saturday Morning Cartoon Villain who'd frame his former friend and colleague and create a situation he has way less control over. Furthermore, everyone would blame America for this, just creating more unrest which would fester and grow, even at the threat of Manhattan returning to finish the job. The whole point of the Squid was that it was the "unknown" to be rallied against with a psychic dread attack still lingering in many minds to drive home that fact, not the semi-known and unbeatable.

>makes Ozymandias into a Saturday Morning Cartoon Villain who'd frame his former friend and colleague

You mean, the kind of guy who would throw a colleague out a fucking window? Or get another thrown into prison, with gangs of fellow prisoners lining up to slit his throat? Or murder a colleague's close friends by inducing cancer, so he'd have a nervous breakdown?

Wow Sup Forumsro you sure fucking showed me!

NOT!

Neck yourself.

Things like Lovecraft, the Outer Limits and Twilight Zone where the whole point in the meta context of the Squid. Fiction that deals with paranoia and alienation from the other, your typical go to fiction for the two minutes to midnight Cold War pessimist, something lingering in the minds of folks watching 50s science fiction horror re-runs on tv, then paying to see them again re-made on the silver screen. It's extremely era appropriate, captured the zeitgeist if you will.

>and makes Ozymandias into a Saturday Morning Cartoon Villain who'd frame his former friend and colleague and create a situation he has way less control over.
Turning the US against Dr. Manhattan gives him more control over the situation if anything.

Also, did you forget the part where Adrian already framed Dr. Manhattan for giving his colleagues cancer? Framing Dr. Manhattan further is right in line with the kind of shit that he'd do.

>everyone would blame America for this
Why? They got nuked too.
It gets America to completely and utterly renounce Dr. Manhattan, which is what everyone wanted from the beginning.

Seems to me like it's more coherent on both points.

>The whole point of the Squid was that it was the "unknown" to be rallied against with a psychic dread attack still lingering in many minds to drive home that fact
Being moderately beatable is the only point that I see the squid being better about. But even that's pure conjecture.

Could have been way worse. I thought they did a good job with casting and capturing the look of the comic.

reminds me of Lord of the Rings movie

Dumbed down
misses the main themes of the original work
amped up action
but basically the best film version we could have gotten.

>but basically the best film version we could have gotten
no.

did alan capture the Zeitgeist when he stole all his plots from a shitty novel (super folks) ??? The Squid was always stupid.

Go back to pretending being a magician. Admitting you stole an idea doesn't make it more original

yes.

yeah unfortunately. They were never going to do a better version of the Lord of the Rings.

>a character named literally the Comedian
>he doesn't even make quips, not even about Beyonce

Just sell the rights to marvel, they know their kino

hell no

>still best superhero movie

Will it ever be topped lads?

The Comedian came to close and all but committed suicide by Ozy, I'd hardly call Rorschach anyone's colleague at that point and the whole cancer thing was also a way to spare the two from coming to blows.

>Why?
They created him. Some of their shit being blown up would not make Russia forgive and forget. If anything, it would just deepen their haired, and get more nations to rally behind them. Now the squid, nobody even suspects it was man made.

>Being moderately beatable is the only point that I see the squid being better about. But even that's pure conjecture.

There was never a live squid! There would never be another squid attack. The whole point was to get the nations talking so Ozzy's megacorp could swoop into a more favorable circumstance and guide us to the future. But that requires the unknown to be worried about, not an American made vengeful God King that would soon have death cults dedicated to his name.

kys

>misses the main themes of the original work

Holy fuck, am I getting tired of phony pseudo-intellectual fanboys saying this shit on this thread (or any thread) without qualifying it.

Stop being so salty Morrison. Heck, you seem to have never even read Super Folks.

perfect summation of everything wrong with the movie.

Well you see that just proves my point, you can't even use a google.
You are learning lot of shit by actually finding the answers yourself.
I'm not smart you are just really fucking slow.

It's not whether people get it or not it's whether it worked as a film.

Like turning Scream, a movie that's a satire of slasher movies, into a comic

Not an argument

>STOP TALKING ABOUT THINGS I DON'T UNDERSTAND REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

It's time to move on.
