What's the best playback speed so that the dialogues can still be understood and the voices doesn't sound too funny?

What's the best playback speed so that the dialogues can still be understood and the voices doesn't sound too funny?

1.1 or 1.2

That said, Lawrence of Arabia is better at 1.5 than it is at 1x

i unironically watch all media at 1.5x now

i don't have time for this shit anymore

i can't even remember the last movie i enjoyed

maybe mad max. saw that one in theatres though.

Depending on the density of dialogue anywhere from 1.5x to 2.0. I used to watch movies, lectures, pretty much anything at 1.5x speed and after a minute or so you stop noticing it. Saves quite a bit of time in the long run especially if youre watching something like GoT where the dialogue is almost completely worthless 99% of the time.

I never understood this, why is it recommended to watch Lawrence of Arabia sped up? And don't say
>cause it's long XDD
your wouldn't watch The Godfather sped up unless you like sucking cocks
so explain pls

The difference is The Godfather is good

I usually watch tv shows by skipping the dialogue.

It's all stock sentences anyway and I'm mostly interested in where the overall story is taken.

>enjoyed cuck max
I don't think this website is for you, tumblr might be more your speed, hillcuck.

A great movie is great even when sped up, a shit movie is shit no matter at what speed you watch it.

Do you need a hug?

I watch most things at 1.5x unless I find that I'm really enjoying them. Even then, some films can still be fantastic at 1.5x speed, subtitles on. Hardly even notice it any more.

>watching movies faster than intended
when did this fucking meme start up?

Even since playback devices allowed you to manipulate playback speed.

then why would you even consider watching lawrence of arabia

Gameshows are best at 0.8x speed
Something more intense like a racing movie like fast and furious I do 1.75x to give it that extra "oomph"

You know what's the saddest part about these threads?
There's people in them that aren't joking and actually watch their movies faster.

Why would you think any of us are lying? Why make the thread if this is just a joke
Lots of people like to watch stuff at different rates, everybody is different

Wasting time watching movies at 1x is sadder. Do you not value your time?

Any modern player will have settings to shift the pitch back down, so it still sounds normal, just fast, obviously. I feel like anything much more than 3x feels more like 'skimming' than watching though, personally. But there's probably room to improve my listening and watching skills more, I guess.

1.5 is a bit too much, unless you're doing a movie marathon I don't see the point. I like to immerse myself in the movie that is no phones and try to pause as less as possible.

I always watch with the subtitles on, this way I learn new words and remember the dialogue better.

If you must watch a movie at a faster rate for time reasons I would personally say don't go over 1.2X.

If you truly valued your time, you wouldn't watch movies at all.

Lawrence of arabia has unnecessary pro gay homosex propaganda. David Lean was gay and let his own agenda slip into the movie. Yes there were rumors TE Lawrence was queer but they didn't have to make that a big part of the movie

this is why we watch at 1.5 speed

now bridge on the river kwai you watch 1:1

Playback speed for what? Don't tell me you fucking watch kino at the same speed as you watch films?

2x for flicks watching two at the same time
1.5x for movies while shitposting
1x for films making notes
0.5 for kino rewatching it at least twice, first upside down, second with the eyes closed and on mute
I've been trying to develop a new formula to find the best way to watch a motion picture, and it's like speed = sen(time)^-q, in which q is a coefficient related to the quality of the director.

>Always turning subtitles on
Absolutely this. I used to miss so many little details in the dialogue before I started turning them on for every movie.

Based, my good friend, based. Please, takethis complimentary (you) and enjoy it in good health.

Same. I find it harder to watch movies without it now.

1x. How is this even a debate?

t. mouthbreathing marlelcuck

>now bridge on the river kwai you watch 1:1

Based

Some of us don't live with mommy without responsibilities.

I set the video to .99
Audio to 1.01
The audiovisual trench keeps me focused on the movie and makes me fill in the gaps

>watching films faster than 1x speed
>wanting the escape that movies provide to end quicker than intended

Kill yourself you fucking spastic.

You're trying too hard. Don't you have school tomorrow?

Because these threads are bait with the occasional retard that actually gets fooled

I unironically do this, 2.0x for movies, 2.56x for tv shows. You just get used to it, yes at first it's jarring but after you adjust it's like watching it normally, I'm not even memeing like all these fuckers in the thread, you save a ton of time in the process and you don't lose any of what the movie has to offer, if you're thinking about chipmunk squealing then you're thinking wrong since it doesn't fuck with the audio pitch.

The objective best viewing speed is pi/2.

>b-but my video player can't handle irrational numbers

Stop using VLC.

i've been here since early 05 and on Sup Forums since its inception

keep trying faggot

>CockMongler
>not a newfag
kys

>watching your kino below 4x
Get the fuck out of here

I kept trying to achieve 3.0x speed, but it's a bit much for me. Recently I figured out a way to play a single movie in three windows, with the frames alternating. Each window displays every third frame, with the second window one frame ahead and the third window two frames ahead, so you see three frames at once every 1/24th of a second. The audio is regular old sped up. It works perfectly. Movies are just so sloooooooooooow but after speeding them up it's great. I can finally watch The Trial without falling asleep!

I watch most things at 1.5X UNLESS it involves music, in which case it goes back to normal speed. Unless I don't like the song, or have heard it before, in which case back to 1.5X.

It doesn't "change" films that much. It doesn't change the "cinematic vision" of the director unless that vision was something pretentious based on extreme slowness like Satantango.

I actually watched Satantango at 2X to counteract some of its intentional heel-dragging. Silent films are also okay at 2X, since you just need to read the title cards rather than catch dialogue.

>MRAutist
>doesnt tell him to go back to redd1t

hello r3ddit!

that's grinman

Lmao

>the voices doesn't sound too funny?
Are you talking about the voices being high -piched? Are you not aware that can be corrected with VLC with time-stretching audio?

>people actually watch at things more than 1x speed
>fags on this board watch at 1.5x speed
Well that explains the shit taste

NICE DUBS it's a joke

people who are actually pretentious and annoying enough to write reviews/blogs because they fancy themselves kinophiles like to do this so they can watch more stuff to produce more reviews

i usually start off at 1.1 and if it doesnt get interesting i increase by 0.1 from time to time. But theres also exceptions, i watched harakiri mostly at 1.5 speed even though i found it very interesting. And since i now know i like this movie ill eventually rewatch it at normal speed.

kek

I fucking hate this place

To be a film buff.

>people think speedreaders are smart
>can process lots of information in a short time
>somehow speedwatching is dumb

The fact that people ironically watch movies sped up explains a lot about this shitty board

It's not fault. They should make them faster.

>people actually watch movies like Solaris on 1x speed
What the fuck, I have places to be, people to visit. Only losers don't watch at speeds greater than 1

i met someone in 98 who said he did this, i was horrified, so at least that long
i only watch tutorials at 1.5 speed

For kino I watch it at normal speed but with the end of the movie being played backwards over the movie playing forwards at the same time

What's the point of listening to the audio? I always mute the movies, set them to 2.0 and read the subtitles while listening to a podcast on 1.2.
You can be way more productive this way.

>Solaris
But that's a massive waste of time at any speed.

Friendly Reminder that speed-up fags are all from Reddit as they require fast speed and explosions to make something interesting.

When will the Sup Forums patricians return?

I watched GoT at 2x speed except for the CIA scenes, which I watched at 1x

I watch porn at 3x speed

I usually start films off at 5x and the gradually lower the speed to 1.1x at the end. All the early stuff is just filling anyway.

>voices sound funny
Use VLC, it doesn't do that stupid shit when sped up, like mpv or some other meme player did
I used to watch everything at 1.5x, I was able to marathon through so much shit so fast
After not doing it for a while I got back to 1x and now I'm staying here
Funny thing is when sped up movies/shows feel more natural since there are no long pauses, just like a natural conversation goes
>speed up a movie
>everything is still comprehensible and fairly normal
>speed up a podcast
>can't keep up with all the blabbering
