From various degrees of metal to hard rock:
Metallica
Iron Maiden
Dream Theater
Gojira
Tool
Nevermore (mostly 2 songs stand out)
Godsmack
Lacuna Coil
Alice Cooper
Alice in chains (good new albums)
Alter Bridge
Tremonti
Emigrate
Three Days Grace
Breaking Benjamin
A perfect circle
Staind
Seether
Not all songs are great, but these bands have some good ones on them, so they're worth discovering even if you trash the rest.
What do you mean by 'great' though ?
youtube.com
fucking speedboozer man
METAL PUNK IS ALL WE NEED
not metal punk man
i dont even
By 'great' I mean they have songs you could listen on repeat forever, without headaches.

fucking speedboozer man
here their song youtube.com
and here's full album
If you want to get into metal the best thing you can do is lurk /metal/.
Don't post or read the thread, just listen to random albums that people post. /metal/ actually has decent taste but the community is complete toxic trash. Don't interact with them ever. If you try to get recs on regular Sup Forums people will just spam you with meme answers.
I think that's a blessing.
Anyway, thanks again user!

>Kreator - Pleasure To Kill
>Sodom - Persecution Mania
>Possessed - Seven Churches
>Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Black:
>Burzum - S/T

>Dissection - Storm Of The Light's Banr
>Bathory - S/T and Under The Sign Of the Black Mark

Listen to those and look for more in the genres you like. Can't really give you a lot of death, doom or prog recs, but look for some. Try browsing /meal/.
