Did any of that happened?

First man in space was black

Uriy Gagarin, the very first man in space was BLACK?

made up soviet stories doesn't count

>Did any of that happened?

No. They were backroom quantitatives that simply rechecked math and crunched numbers for the actual rocket and aerospace engineers. There was dozens of these people, but they were all forgotten unless you were black.

Also the main protagonist was barely even black, like 1/4 I believe. Not the she-boon that the movie shows.

WE

> 1/4

More like 1/8

Was this really considered black in the 60s?

Nope.

She just used her position to her advantage. Nobody would even know her if she didn't get to claim she was black.

DELET THIS

Not only that, but one of the most important figures in getting the space flight right was Jack Crenshaw, a person this movie conveniently glosses over.

Also basically all of the "evil" white people in the movie weren't actually people that existed, let alone work at NASA.

In reality, the real life counterpart to the movie's protagonist began working at NASA, might have had the odd insensitive comment directed at her, but otherwise lead a quiet career. Of course that doesn't sell, or get critical acclaim, so they had to take a few creative liberties.

To revise history.
