What is some essential black and white kino? I'm looking for classic films or serials, not modern hipster shit that was made to look old.

Announcing that you have/will report someone is a reportable offense.

...

I just don't want any fucking porn in my thread. This board is so predictable.

There are so many b&w films... where are we even supposed to start?

On the Waterfront
Rebecca
Maltese Falcon
Harvey (personal favorite)
Seven Samurai
Roman Holiday - if youre a fan of Audrey Hepburn
Casablanca

7. Submitting false or misclassified reports, or otherwise abusing the reporting system may result in a ban. Replying to a thread stating that you've reported or "saged" it, or another post, is also not allowed.

There is nothing in the rules about preemptively stating that you will report porn on a SFW board. Try again.

Is anybody else really into cheesy 50s horror?

Bumping for interest

There are a shit load of black and white films. I'll just recommend a nice film noir called The Big Combo which has amazing lighting, fucking beautiful.

If you faggots stop bickering, this thread might actually be pretty cool.

Has anybody here actually finished The Birth Of A Nation?
I want to watch it, but it's like 3 hours long and silent. I like silent films, but that's pretty fucking long.

>wanting to watch that
I don't want to see that racist shit. What's wrong with you?

...

>getting triggered by art
It was an incredibly influential film.

...

>you will never see the original cut of Star Wars, in all of its black and white glory

...

The first half is far more enjoyable than the second, but that second half really does a wonderful job of demonstrating the power of film in delivering a message, even one you disagree with: you really do find yourself rooting, on some level, for the KKK. Overall, though, I really only recommend it to people who are interested in studying film/film history.

Silent films I'd recommend:

The Black Pirate
Anything with Buster Keaton

...

The Last Picture Show may or may not qualify based on your criteria, but I recommend it anyway.

Also anything by Kurosawa (particularly Seven Samurai and Throne of Blood).

The 400 Blows
One of the best movies I've seen

>Not interested in watching one of the most important movies ever

Created an entire genre of movies in Japan, which also lead to Ultraman and its relatives. Also had an impact on American movies and pop culture.

>What is some essential black and white kino?
Well, that's just as stupid as asking for essential color movies

CLERKS

>not modern hipster shit that was made to look old
