If you cut a piece of your hair and put atop a white sheet of paper (a regular A4 office paper you use for printing will do), you'll notice that individual strands of hair against a white background actually look BLACK with a minor RED tint making it an optical illusion. Just like BLUE eyes and GREY sky before and after the rain etc.
