why's a 7/10 movie getting so much praise?

Emily Jean is amazing

I too am bored at work

...

Only one more hour of wage slavery left

tfw probably 2-3 more for me

I generally get pretty happy if I get delayed as it means I have an excuse to be late and they still let me leave on time.

...

...

What are you watching tonight?

I might check out The Wailing

Yeah I don't expect it to be as good as The Village or Signs but I think it will be good.

>De Toth, Mann, Boetticher, Sherman, Lewis, Ford, Hawks, the list goes on...

The hallmarks of the new and the uninitiated. It's okay if you're just getting into the website, but there are some (even here, on a so called ''patrician'' board) that actually believe they are cultured or have a snippet of wisdom because they post like this, when in actuality they are nothing more than embarrassing cringeworthy copy/paste babbies with no opinion on the website they claim to protect whatsoever.

For a cinephile and 4channer like myself, it is truly disgusting to watch, and the main reason I, and many others, steer far away from this pit of despair and depravity.

on the First day of christmas my poo love gave to me a claymation peepee

For the longest time, I associated this movie with Taylor Hackford. Then I realised he directed Ray.

I mean, yeah one of them was blind and the other was a boxer. But come one, they're both biopics about black guys so how am I supposed to tell the difference?

how the fuck do I get my ratings to show under recent activity, the only thing that shows on my profile are favorites and nothing else

Date. What. You. Watch.

You need to log the date you watched the film.

thank you, nice digits

Initially I was ready to give sword of doom four stars, its a bit unevenly paced and that there was meant to be a sequel that never materialized really does show, the brother character out for revenge was kind of dull, but I loved Nakadai's performance and his character arc, the savagery of the film and flaws with the ending aside I kind of like it. Pretty awesome Seeing such an old film really go there with the violence.
The action scenes in sword of the beast were well choreographed and good too.
Though I think I'm definately more fond of the quieter, slower, dramatic, emotion driven samurai films like Harakiri and samurai rebellion.

I liked baron prasil for its interesting combination of animation and live action, I can see the influence on Terry Gilliam and feel its up there with his Baron Munchausen film.

Trying to remember a film I watched as a kid but its not coming to me, it probably had Jean Belmondo in it, an Italian or French production, early 70s or 60s, it was an exploitation film, maybe a spy thing, theres a scene with alot of bodies floating in a swimming pool. Really lame dubbing but it had a real guilty pleasure value.

Dumb question. It's pretty obvious.

I want to go home and rethink my life

Really? Oh, but I can't see it. Tell us why it's obvious

Emily Jean here
Why do you like me so much

Pierrot le fou

[It Ain't Me starts playing]

...

Nah, it was post production dubbed in Italian, not pierrot.

hey im back did anyone miss me?

Don't want to close my eyes
I don't want to fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you baby
And I don't want to miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you baby
And I don't want to miss a thing

I'm singing this song
But it's about you
Whoever else is listening
It's only about you

See there's just one story
And everyone's the star
And it goes like this...

No one will ever love you
For everything you are

And so you build up layers of deception
And you leave out things to alter the perceptions
Of the ones you love
Who would never love you back
If they knew all about you
Every solitary fact

And the sadness of your life
Is built upon this lie
Of really knowing anyone
Or having them know you

It's the sadness of the world
There's nothing left to do

And so just go to sleep
Just let the hours pass
Sleep it all away
None of it will last

Soon it's all over
You're under clover
And none of it matters anymore

I love Armageddon and fuck y'all

How's everyone's weeks been?

What's the general consensus on Manchester by the Sea? And Kenneth Lonnergan in general, never seen any of his films before.

youtube.com/watch?v=PDRYASntddo

Anyone looking forward to Kuso, Flying Lotus' directorial debut? Premieres at Sundance in a couple days.

no, we're not just a rehashed version of Sup Forums,
Because we're not underage and we don't post CP.
We're educated, older and wiser.
If the ‘net were West Berlin, they'd make us the Kaiser,

Silly t/v/, go back to your capeshit war thread.

Margaret is great.

Before the internet even really knew what it was
It became a huge collection of porno and nubs.
And the best place to go when your dick met your hand
Was this guy named moot's amusement park he called "Sup Forums."
What?
I was so sad, they called my favorites bad,
And I dreamed of putting them all into body bags.
But, one day like magic, Heaven above
Sent a general made of new memes, funposts and hugs.
It's pretty easy, and not at all sleazy.
These people are my friends, no they don't even tease me.
All the newfigs know what to do because
Patrick Bateman smiles, points up at his post, and says
Check the dubs.
Just check the dubs.
OC, go check the dubs.
The Church of Bateman, to make a clear statement,
Tells us what to do when we're sad or complacent.
We get together, make a Letterboxd account,
And share it with our fellow figs and their families.
We're just a collection of embryos
Who want to grab followers and post YIKES 'til it's old
Because, when we're in the moment our souls become free.
So euphoric when we see 1,000 films logged & seen.
The internet knows that we're something.
We gave them EMBRYO and Fartposting.
And no, we're not just a rehashed version of Sup Forums,
Because we're not underage and we don't post CP.
We're educated, older and wiser.
If the ‘net were West Berlin, they'd make us the Kaiser,
And we'd still go on checking patricians, too,
Because good taste is not just for gentlemen, boo.
Posting the classic that started it all,
And even though he resigned, Matt Conti's still the boss.
So when it comes to separating the real men from the scrubs
Know a true fig newton from his counterpart by checking the dubs.
Shout outs to PTAbro, machill, synt, steakbro, White Male Cis Scum, James Healey, tsar.
3bard, I'm out.

I also haven't seen any of his other films
I thought Manchester by the sea was great. The core story is extremely strong, it would be good even without great direction and performances that it has

Not particularly excited for Kuso, will probably watch eventually. Think it's generally interesting to watch movies made by musicians.

is this Right Now, Wrong Then? I love Kim Min-hee, she's gonna make it far.

I'm from lbg/. Five minutes here show that this isn't any bastion of taste, patricianism or good discussion. Just a worse than ever general on a shitposting board.

it's cool.

no that's me, sorry.

I've heard good things, gonna check it out soon.

That's cool, yeah I'm hearing similar stuff, strangely looking forward to it even though it doesn't look like my type of film.

Kuso definitely looks weird, hope it's not too disjointed or "random". I can't imagine it's gonna get an immediate distribution deal though, so probably gonna have to wait a while. Fingers crossed I'm wrong.

what are some films/filmmakers that make you cry?

i need a good cry.

perhaps i could recommend you some alternatives

Biutiful

How the fuck is this allowed?

shimmy is the best equestria girl

>m-muh classics!!!

It's not particularly my (machill) type of film either but it's really elegantly done. Things are revealed (or not revealed at all) really nicely.

Haven't watched the Kuso trailer. Will probably get something just due to the name, imagine it will be on itunes sooner than you could think. tfw seeing flylo live in a few months. Maybe if I ask nicely he will give me a dvd

rec me a fun underrated 90s movie
