I'm going to see Parsifal next week and want to get familiar with it first. Any recommendations for recordings? I've passively listen to knappertsbusch one (I think '62). Also generally any Wagners must have recs?

I just wanted to commend everyone for exercising some restraint and letting the John Cage thread die.

Why are classical biopics so incredibly idiotic? Do they even research a single fact before making this garbola?

youtube.com/watch?v=j9NG_NPLktA

>classical biopic
>actually a film based on a theater play

It's based on a play, fucktard

I don't really care where the retardation starts, whether its with a biopic or bioplay.

watch the Stein DVD to first get acquainted with it, the production isn't pretentious and it isn't dragged out. then, for standalone recordings, you might want to look into Kegel. honestly, I find Kna to be pretty overrated overall as a conductor, but ofc all his Parsifals are excellently sung, but the playing is variable (as all Bayreuth recordings are pre-70s) and often dragged out.

What's your favorite composition by Ravel?
I really like his string quartet.

Bolero is the only choice

Piano Concerto in G

Good afternoon /classical/. I have enjoyed lurking many threads with you fellows of great taste and I would be most gracious for your input.

What is the choice of music should someone have listened to at least once in their lifetime? Thank you in advance.
