It's just one autist that keeps making the thread
Jackson Soloists are superior to strats though

I love my jazzmaster, but they're the ultimate indie guitar. And indie is soy, apparently.

Jaguars

yeah why are they so popular for indie musicians? they get played by a lot of bands whos sounds are derivative of like 80s and 90s indie and they get shit on for using them i dont get it

can someone do some superlatives for these guitars real quick and explain what they are best suited for and stuff also interested in mustangs and supersonics

Sonic Youth were my favorite band at the time I got it, so it had a lot to do with that.
I'm a huge Fender fanboi though, their twin reverb amps are seriously god tier.

They get shit on because honestly, the indie meme behind them is kinda true. Not gonna lie.
I mean the real reason I hate Les Pauls is because I don't have one. I doubt the user making these jazzmaster threads actually owns one.

Jaguars have a much wider range of tones than most other guitars due to the amount of switching capabilities. The bridges were a bit of a problem but it is manageable and the newer models have a bridge more like a mustangs which solves all the old model problems. They have a very articulate and bright tone generally that makes them great for just about anything as long as you have a noise gate to deal with the single coils. My only complaint is short scale length which makes downtuning awkward and the upper frets a little too crowded. Other than that I think they're the best thing ever.

jaguars do have a wide range of capabilities, but strats are still a bit more versatile and give more variety in sounds, depending on the type of jag and the pickups. there's only so much you can do with two single coils.

that being said, there are sounds that jags can get that strats can't, but the same is also vise-versa. I have both myself, and always trend back towards the strat. but when I want a really crunchy single coil sound, I get the jag. I don't really care about the neck length, I like the strat's neck length just fine personally, but the jag has a bit less tension, so that also has some effect on the sound and feel.

but hey, both work great. you can't go wrong with either. they're two of my favorite types of guitars.

you probably haven't tried that many good fenders. though to be fair, some MIM and MIJ fenders aren't that great, and manufacturing has become so efficient that there's probably not much difference between MIM/MIJ and squires.

a modern MIA however can't be beat. everything is refined, from the feel to the electronics.
