What a perfectly timed thread, I was just looking into getting into country music.
Can we get some appreciation for the classics?
If you're looking into country, I'd say check out Turnpike Troubadours. Even though they're Okies, they're probably my favorite modern country band
Currently listening to pic related for the first time, basically my first experience with country music. Loving it so far 2bh.
I'll look them up now, thanks user.
I see your Hank Sr. and raise you a Merle Haggard
I see your merle and raise you a willie paying tribute to merle

Nice. 90's country is what I grew up on, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Brooks 'N Dunn, etc. Tracy Lawrence is one of the good ones that was pretty prevalent in that time period
Man. I'm only half way through the video and already it's hitting me.
From the (very) little I've heard of 90s country music, I'm liking in particular Tim McGraw and Alan Jackson. I must say, their music has some incredible production to it.
Also, any opinions on 1000 Horses? I heard one of their songs a while back and I was wondering if they're a band to get into
I saw this guy a year ago. Great show.

Also, speaking of classics, how bout some of the '
ol Possum?
Yeah dude, Alan Jackson is a country music staple as far as I'm concerned. Older Tim McGraw is better than the new IMO, he's gone pretty mainstream/pop country nowadays. I've honestly never heard of 1000 Horses. I'll have to check them out.
I don't think that I've ever heard of him, but now that I've listened to the song in your link, I'll definitely be checking him out. His voice reminds me of Cody Jinks.
A lot of the people on the YouTube comments of McGraw videos are expressing the same sentiment as you: Old McGraw is better, 90s country is best country, etc...
Here's the song I heard of 1000 Horses a while back, always kinda digged it

Not bad, but to me it sounds more like southern rock than the country music that I'm used to. Like i said though, not bad at all.
How 'bout some Waylon?
In my opinion Alan Jackson was the last decent famous country musician.
I could see that if you're looking from a purely "Nashville" type country perspective. Have you listened to any Red Dirt/ Texas country artists?
for some great nineties country check out dwight yoakam
