Actually needing to see the pores on someone's face in order to enjoy a film

>actually needing to see the pores on someone's face in order to enjoy a film
Explain yourselves.

small dick

Uncanny valley, motherfucker. Yes, it applies even to non-humans.

You wouldn't understand.

Because I want:

1) an experience that doesnt hurt my eyes
2) a fully immersive experience with an absolute discharge of colors and emotions
3) some details also make me think

Here

>Shows a 4k image
>400x315

dumb frogposter

It's just autism.

>I'm too poor to afford a high resolution TV so I need to think up reasons to hide my pain.

You need it because uncanny valley?

Uncanny valley would suggest 4k makes the experience worse.

>not watching movies on a 4k tv hurts my eyes

Bitch.

I want a new 4K TV, but I can't justify the price.

4K TV is most likely another fad just like acid rain was in the 80's and 3DTV a few years ago.

This is why I only watch flicks on my phone at 240p

I doubt it. 3D is a total meme that comes back every 30 years or so. Everybody wants quality.

>4K TV is most likely another fad
Yeah, like dvds or HD.

Does curved tvs actually have a benefit or is that complete memery?

dumb person

its for gamers.

People are buying 4k TVs much faster than 3D, they're achieving wide adoption. It helps that there's now an abundance of 4k content, like most of Netflix's originals.

3D will have something of a resurgence, but not with TVs, but with VR headsets, which handle 3D much better than the glasses and shit.

You don't know what that means.

There is no 4K Avatar, your pic is a lie

>abundance of 4k content
>only netflix and some bimbo shit nobody watches

amazing

Go look in the movie section at your local Best Buy or whatever. Most new action/blockbuster/superhero etc movies are being released on 4k Blu-ray now.

how will they make it 4k? wouldn't they have to re-render all the cgi?

>hey guys the rogue one threads taught me a cool buzzword
>do i sound smart yet?

Version that was shown in the theater, if it was digital, was probably already 4k or higher.

people are gay
no news

Most theater releases are in 8k pleb.

yes, we have to show that celebrities are actually ugly so that little girls won't feel bad about themselves

DAMN, WONDER WOMAN LOOKS LIKE ****THAT****?

Avatar was always a gimmick film to show off impressive CGI, so yeah, if i'm going to watch an animated feature i want it to look as good as possible

>I know, I'll post a low resolution image to show the difference between HD, 4K, etc

Feg

I don't need to, but it looks neat.

>pixel sizes cant be shown in comparison unless its at the highest resolution.

your poor braincell. all alone.

holy fuck you're special.

>4k example
>46 KB, 400x315 res image

Also, there's no true 4k version of Avatar. Supposedly the sequels will be in 4k and full 60fps.

It wasn't. All the 4k 60fps for Avatar right now are upscaled and have interpolation. Which is why it looks like dogshit. In fact, they look worse than this 1080p 60fps because 1080p stretched to 4k is like taking 420p and upscaling it to 1080p. This 60fps scene has been interpolated from 30fps.

Most of those are either:
1. 2.8K digital upscales that were rendered at 2K for the digital intermediate
2. Scanned in at 4K film cells that were also finished at 2K for theatres

>4k example
>175 KB, 1920x1080 image

You just don't get it do you?

Theatrical version still must have been higher than 1080p, you can't project 1080p on an IMAX screen and expect any sort of clarity

They are absolutely retarded. Media is made for a flat screen. Why do you want the picture bent?

>maxresdefault
I know you're baiting but it's fucking working. REEEEE

>cropped

You just don't get it do you?

I'm obviously not talking about movies from the last decade dumb ass.

There are plenty of 4k and 8k videos on youtube you can watch now. But, you must have a proper connection, browser, and codecs to have the 4k selection pop up in the box. You can even watch 60fps vids, however, youtube won't allow 60fps. Instead it uses variable FPS for 60fps videos.

Don't forget the proper GPU and RAM. Most people won't be able to enjoy watching 4k videos and 8k videos will be unwatchable.

both images have been shrunk down to fit on a 1080p image. so you can compare pixel sizes. I really cant dumb this down for you any more.

Avatar was filmed in 2k for theaters.

We are talking about Avatar, kid.

And V-sync problems.

The instant you edit the image, your image editing program compresses it when using jpg. You are trashing what the pixels look like. Learn how to do image editing.

8k is as high as I can go and still be watchable. My res is only shitty 1080p native, but I can zoom and zoom and zoom in and see wicked details.

I can't wait for 16k home monitors and 16k porn.

That's not even the main issue. Look at his filename: "maxresdefault". A goddamn YouTube thumbnail image.

True, he's just a google warrior. He doesn't even make webms from the source.

>tfw no VP9 on Sup Forums

dose interpolation artifacts

did they even try?

Shit son are you saying Avatar is coming to 4k, gonna have to buy that.

not that guy, but you can do that with literally any two resolutions and show how one is finer than the other, you need actual pixel density and actual distance to gauge what it looks like when you use a display with a given resolution

When searching for a quality torrent these days I don't even look at the video specs anymore, only audio.

Audio quality is the first thing every encoder cuts off dramatically because of it's size and the fact that most normies don't care if they watch a movie with atrocious 92kbps sound (but they sure do love to complain about incoherent dialogue and distorted explosions)

So if the uploader actually bothered about audio quality, the video spec is more than likely on par with it.
4K is a a bit of a meme though, atleast today.

They use a program to do it. You can also do it using some online programs. It isn't good for action scenes and fast stuff. It is better for stationary camera scenes. It shouldn't be done. It should just be filmed/CGI'd in 60fps to begin with.

>(you)

On a crazier note, does anyone know where I can find a legit copy of the 60 frames version? I'm on barracks wifi and am afraid to pirate

You can't. It wasn't filmed in 60fps. Only 48fps, and you can't get that either. Only in-theater showing was actual 48fps. Everything else is 30fps or 60fps interpolated. The 60fps interpolated looks like which is a direct capture of it. So, if you want 60fps interpolated then go for the Extended Collectors edition, though only 30fps versions may exist. You may need to pirate to find a fan-made 60fps interpolated version of that.

Damn that's shitty. I love those webms

The webms come from the version you can find on TPB.

Don't see the point of 60fps movies. They look like arcade games.

This
24fps is the gold standard for cinema because it lets your brain fill in certain gaps which makes the whole thing look more like you'd see it in real life (no not because you can only see 24fps before some autist Sup Forums tard comes screaming). It becomes too unnatural/fake at 60fps.

The only problem is that directors are not used to filming in 60fps. In the old 24fps they could get away with a lot of stuff you simple don't see. It is like moving from b&w to color. Some movies/shows are specifically tailored to be b&w and wouldn't be as good in color because they are specially filmed for b&w. It is just more pronounced moving from 24fps to 60fps. After a couple of decades of all directors filming in 60fps, they will learn how to best film in it and there won't be such glarring problems.

Keep in mind there are no Hollywood films in true 60fps yet. There are a few being shot in it now though, just nothing released. You'll need to search for 60fps documentary footage and indie stuff to get true 60fps.

Because real life doesn't look like a grid of pixels. Poor resolution is a constant reminder that I'm watching a movie and this isn't real

do the 4k tv's even have the uP power to play it ?

>on Samsung Galaxy Note3
>on a fucking phone

there's really no explanation. there's no difference. it's a visual placebo effect. I wonder when the faggotry will end though. 8k? 16k? 256k?

Not buyin it till rez reaches 4T

>posting from his phone

10/10 A/V thanks YiFy!

>posting from his 8k 500" 144hz monitor battlestation
>hehehehe

like, I can TOTALLY tell the difference, man

>tfw can't upload 4k, 60fps webms with VP9/Opus

Film is a visual medium. It's nicer to see the picture better.
That said, it's hard to find 4K content on PC, apparently they're trying to keep it closed to TV for a while. That won't last.

oh man that looks so weird

>2 min limit
>no 4k
>no VP9/Opus
>4MB limit

uh excuse me but what you're referring to as a visual medium is actually an audiovisual medium or as I like to call it audio+visual.

Some scenes are great, others are dogshit due to interpolation.

>4K TV
>TV
>not having a projector

>paying for a new $500 bulb every year

NOPE

Not that guy, but at least take the time to capitalize and punctuate. And stop making posts like it's fucking twitter, make your point with as many words as you need. Man I miss 2008, no phone posting, most kids learned the ropes and got rid of their shit on Sup Forums, and many people still didn't use quality-of-life addons/extensions (which meant less shitposts).

ITT poor people without a new 4K tv

Even with a PC monitor set higher than 1080p you get better visuals viewing 4k. CRTs show it much better at high res settings because flatscreens have one native res and beyond that they tend to not do to well. But, CRTs are dinos now.

Another retarded comment in a thread full of retarded comments. Good job.

>born in 1999
>doesn't even know what a CRT is

Grats, kid.

If higher quality helped you escape the uncanny valley, then 140p youtube videos should make you freak the fuck out and say "that's CG!".
Creating life-like shit on computers is a very interesting topic, where better quality doesn't necessarily mean it looks more "real".

ITT poor shits without a 16k prototype

just project your movies on a folded fabric to be avant-garde

Phone poster detected. Watch movies on something other than your iShit in the back of your mother's van.

That is like 10 trips to the theater. Just buy this instead. Chicks dig a good projector setup.

Is this real?

If you can see the pores on his face then he basically looks real. It's like the distinction between a mannequin that has an uncanny valley affect or a person who just has blue paint over them. They literally look real in avatar with high enough pixel density, which is the point.

>interpolation
It wasn't recorded in 4k right?
