If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to go out.

Simple as that.

inb4 third world retards that don't understand what tipping is

The guy that ratted him out for tipping ended up being the rat

He should have just left a buck like everyone else instead of wasting their time right before the heist

That's why they call it a tip off

this scene pissed me off.

i don't give a shit about anyone, i tip nobody. i paid for my meal, where the fuck is the requirement to also pay your employees?
don't ask me to give away handouts i got my own shit to worry about.
i've never tipped and never will.

The companies pay shit wages and expect tipping from patrons on top of overpriced dog food.

Definitely not Mr. Pink

Toby

who was in the wrong HERE?

Tipping is retarded anyway. The whole system could be solved in a week if everyone just stopped tipping all at once. This shitty system is only upheld because people bow down to social pressure to do so and gladly part with their money for no reason because they don't want to look cheap or like an asshole for daring to suggest that maybe they shouldn't HAVE to tip in the first place.

He didn't pay a single penny for the breakfast and still refused to put 1 (one) dollar in as a tip.
Whether you agree with tipping or not, Pink was in the wrong here.

how bout dis

They were, and I say that as someone who always tips. This culture where the customer is expected to feel guilt because the boss doesn't pay the staff, leading to compulsory, meaningless tipping, is bogus. The employer exploits the compassion of the customer - half the time they even take it off the staff anyway, so it's a scam from top to bottom. If you want them to be paid tips, put it on the bill as a service charge, then everyone will pay the exact same amount, and not a penny more. I've been known to give over 50% of the bill as a tip - when I choose to, the point is that anything over what I owe is my money, and claiming a right to it because you really need it and your boss is shafting you is a socialist stick-up, and I ain't holding still for it.

Capitalism is in the wrong. Stay commie my friends

i have literally never tipped in my life, i dont tell the waitress before hand. i just eat my meal and leave. it doesn't even cross my mind.
sometimes i may go into the bathroom and blast piss all over the toilet paper, sink, soap and floor.

>I make shit pay
>Who should I blame for this?
>My boss or the costumer
I swear to God, this shit drives me up the fucking wall
People look at me like I strangle puppies when I tell them I don't tip

I had shit jobs that gave me less than minimum wage and all the money was in commissions and shit
I didn't get angry at the costumers for not buying what I was selling though

You wrote what I wanna eat and brought it to me? Aren't you a fucking saint

t. mr pink

No, if someone invites you to breakfast, and then suddenly hustles you for the tip, they entrapped you in the situation under false pretenses. You can't bank on my fucking money, when for all you know I'm flat broke. Even then, if the guy said 'I'd like to leave a tip, could you pay a buck into it please?' I'd do it for the guy. But the way it was done in the movie, no, Pink was in the right.

Mr. Pink was clearly in the right.

Him not tipping wasn't because he didn't think the waitress deserved the money, he simply did not want to support a corrupt and broken system. A waitress should NOT need tips to make due, their own salary should be adequate. He was a man of principles and saw the greater picture.

Fuck that. A tip deserves good service, eg going above and beyond what most people do. If I can do the same shit you do to me, why would I tip you? I came for the food, and expect average service. Waiters aren't fucking beggars, their job should be enough. I've had cashiering jobs before and provide the necessary service required, enough that I always get put up front during mystery shopper times. If that's what the job takes, you either accept it or look for work elsewhere (which I do on principle).

The idea of tipping is great you moron. The point is they get paid for the level of service they provide to you. If they just get more pay by the hour they can still provide poor service see dmv.

Good man. If I want Exceptional Service I go to a strip club or to a whorehouse.

I'm really specific when I order. If the waitress gets it right, she gets 15%. If she fucks one thing up, she gets 0.

The waitress for not learning how to type.

The idea that anyone who earns a fair wage must be doing poor work is sixteenth-century horseshit. 'Keep the peasants hungry or they're get indolent.' In any other context the absurdity would be obvious.

Tipping as a reward for service above the average is great. Tipping as an undeclared compassion tax that you have to give for even below-average service is wrong.

But Orange was the rat, and he doesn't really say anything at all during the entire "debate" over tipping. It's mostly Chris Penn busting Pink's balls about not tipping.

The idea of tipping is great if it's based on acknowledging them for their good service. As in - they could have just given you adequate service - but they put in the hard yards and went above and beyond their duty. THAT'S what tipping is supposed to be for. Instead they're paid so little that you practically have to tip them or they can't make a living wage. Fuck that.

Ha I do this too. I act too good in life, so I have to counter it by doing bad shit from time to time. I don't do it at small businesses though, shit's hard already without making it worse for those people.

I also key cars, the more expensive the better. If they can afford rich cars, they can afford a new coat of paint.

>If they just get more pay by the hour they can still provide poor service see dmv.

This is sort of true, but probably more of a case-by-case basis. There's a chinese place in town where it's known that the servers get paid a little bit more, but don't receive tips (as in, the owner just takes whatever is left behind as a tip). The service is markedly worse there than other places, even the million other Chinese restaurants nearby.

The food is decent and cheap though, so I usually get takeout from there instead.

Mr. Pink was in the right and anyone who thinks otherwise is objectively wrong. No one forces waiters to be waiters. The point of tipping is it's supposed to be voluntary.

If you don't earn enough tips to keep above minimum wage, you're paid minimum wage at least. But you have to be really shitty at your job in work in bumfuck nowhere for that to happen. If tips didn't exist, they'd only be guaranteed about minimum wage in most establishments. They can get a living wage BECAUSE of tips, not in spite of tips.

Mr. White's rationale is the correct one.

The world isn't fair. Man up, and adapt to the cultures and standards you find yourself in at a given situation.

Mr. Pink recognised that charity simply takes the pressure off of capitalists to reform the system. Mr. Pink was therefore in the right.

>Everyone should be controlled by popular consensus and abide by all shitty practices and institutions and no one can be indepenent ever

Nonsense. 'The world isn't fair' is exactly why compulsory tipping is unjustifiable.

Fucking this
/thread

Yeah, it ought to be voluntary. But in practice, there's a lot of pressure to leave an "acceptable" tip amount, unless you want to deal with the server/management coming by and giving you grief over your tip. Most people don't want to deal with that kind of confrontation.

Mr. Pink was the most based person in any Tarantino movie, and in the end he was right about everything. He was right about there being a rat, he was right about needing to leave the warehouse, and he was right about tipping

If Im a regular at a place, Im more inclined to tip, and if the service was exceptional even more so. However Im not there to bump your fucking paycheck, theres a clear price for the service and thats what Im paying for. And dont give me that "oh well it sucks being a server and they rely on tips". How the fuck is that my problem? You think I have endless income to hand out to anyone who tosses a plate at me? Fuck that. Tips are there to say you did a good job, and theyre not to be considered an obligation.

ITT: cheapfags trying to justify their cheapness

Exactly, and that kind of social pressure takes away the voluntary nature of tipping and makes it some weird cultural norm, and an extremely strict one at that. People who don't tip are viewed as the scum of the Earth (at least in the US)

Anyone calling tipping amoral wanna comment on this? In the end, the practice of tipping does improve the quality of life for most restaurant employees.

i worked on a check out in a grocery store, one of the regulars gave me a $5 tip because he said i was always nice and scanned the heavy stuff first.

Im now an electrician and often refuse tips for good service, the job i do is the job i price for. end of story.

t. moralfag

ITT: morality police who think it's a mortal sin to not give a glorified servant 30% of your bill

If anyone deserves to be tipped its the fucking chef

This is the kind of person who doesn't pick up after themselves and say "it's the bus boy's job"

And at the same time lives in an absolutely filthy house

This tbqh
Anyone can carry a tray of food and pretend to be friendly

>I don't know a fucking Jew who'd have the balls to say that

What did he mean by this?

Nice fallacy you've got there friendo
And yes it is the busboy's job, you literally cannot prove me wrong

>triggered cheapfags

I think it's just an American thing, in my country waiters earn a decent wage and they don't need tips

You don't tip the doctor, why tip the waiter?

There's a difference between being courteous and giving up more of your fucking money
However, theoretically there is nothing wrong with just leaving a mess for them to deal with because it's literally their job to clean it up

Pink

its fine to not like tipping, but just saying you are gonna make a statement and not tip the waitress even though she deserves it is just a dick move

>She deserves it
KEK

>I dont know the value of a dollar and have mommy/daddy pay for everything
Have (you) for your excellent service

Me mum is a chef and when wealthy people eat there they tip the chef staff

He wasn't making a statement and he never said she deserves it. In fact, he mentioned how she didn't deserve it because she didn't blow him

This is it, if the film were set anywhere but America, the conversation wouldn't happen. You leave a tip for good or excellent service in Europe. The waiters are all paid better, too. Compulsory tipping is the reason staff are poorly paid, not the solution to it.

t. Waiter
Not my job to subsidize your poor choice in career path user

Why? Dealing with people is far more torturous than hiding in the back talking to foodstuffs

>Go to restaurant
>Eat
>Pay bill
i don't have an obligation to tip, sorry wagecuck, don't complain just because your employer won't pay you anything

He means 'that's beyond cheap'.

>However, theoretically

Autist.

This. Thread over, everyone can go home.
I really hope tipping culture changes in my lifetime but I doubt it will. One of the only European customs I'd willingly transplant here.

So you only eat in burger joints and franchise shitholes, eh? In a restaurant, the food has to be made by someone.

>Moreover, in theory
Better?

he's mocking mr. pink for being cheap and cowardly while hiding behind a guise of 'principles'

You literally have to fill people's drinks a couple times and pretend to give a shit about them. Chefs require actual training.

No. No it's not.

And your smug little reply just puts more egg on your face. Good job.

>Furthermore, hypothetically

Because Im there for the food, thats the entire point. Here we have a guy, or a group of them, working at a fast pace trying to crank out orders in a timely fashion without sacrificing its quality. You do this without so much as a thank you from the customer every day. And you mean to tell me I should tip the asshole with the fake smile who handed it to me?

>Smug
>egg on your face

ITT: literal jews protecting their precious shekels

Someone else noticed the clownishness, and I make a third.

If you can't afford to pay employees, you can't afford to have a business. Simple as that.

This. The restaurant industry knows they would make less overall if they raised prices and got rid of tipping.
