In the future.
Living in the past for a decade would suck. Before WWI we had horrible primitive medicine. Before the bubonic plague, we had almost non-existent hygiene. Anything before that would be absolute hell for us.

Maybe you could argue the dissolution of the USSR, but the wheels were already in motion in the 80s
