Best horror of this decade.

Decent.

That good?

>That good?
Yes. Comfy horror, rare find. Camerawork was really well done. Great atmosphere. Original shit.

no not that good. the acting is atrocious, even by teen standards. hipster glasses and scooby doo mystery ending. soundtrack was good, i'll grant you.

Poorly follows a tradition of slow hipster movies that died for good when Scott Pilgrim flopped. The camerawork is flaccid and the characters are both poorly written and poorly acted.

I didn't like the focus on the romance at the end but overall it's great. I love the setting and music so I overlook the other things.

Great, one of the best recent horror movies. The concept alone makes it very special, but I think the camerawork and soundtrack enhance it. It also uses ambiguity really well.

8/10

>he acting is atrocious, even by teen standards
Definitely disagree. It was bretty good for horror movie standards.

>hipster glasses
As much as I hate those, they looked hot on that girl and you know it.

>romance at the end
What movie? Not "it follows" right?

Can anyone explain the pool scene? How do they come to the conclusion that they can kill it with electricity? Overall it's decent but that scene really bothers me.

Have to agree, acting was better than expected.

How much longer will it be before the faux-80's trend dies?

I fucking love this movie.

One of the only movies I could watch over and over again, just doesn't get old for some reason.

They're just guessing, they have no idea if the plan will be effective or not. They're just kids facing down a supernatural threat that they don't understand, a scooby-doo-ass finale makes sense in that context.

Never. Best era.

I love a horror movie with a simple set of rules and a concept that in itself is facing inevitability. That said, is there a way to cheat the entity, or can you only prolong your own demise?

The girl and guy have sex at the end, right?

First half is amazing.

Second half is laughably bad. It's just alright

The concept is great, the execution at the beginning was great, then it degraded and starting sucking by the end.

how the fuck am I supposed to be scared of something that would not be able to hurt me in real life?

I just watched it earlier this week and I didn't really like it. I don't watch horror movies often so I can't compare it to it's contemporaries but as just a movie it wasn't that good in my opinion. Then again I'm guessing horror movies in themselves aren't particularly good movies as far as plot, cinematography, soundtrack etc. so with that in mind I guess it was an average movie, like a 5-6/10, so I guess it was worth watching and not a complete waste of my time to see what the hype was about. I rated it a 4/10 personally though.

That's not romance.

Things I enjyoed: a blog post by user
1) The movie doesn't try to over-explain the monster, preserving the metaphor. It let's the kids slowly try to figure it out, try new things, explore the limits of it.
2) The movie directly addresses questions that audiences trying to be immersed would typically ask (why don't they just call the cops? why don't they try shooting it? what happens when the monster actually gets to them?)
3) Allows the kids to make mistakes without just being stupid and being slashed one by one.
4) Cool metaphors revolving around inevitability of death and the reality of adulthood.
5) Neat dream-like quality. Adults are only around when they're needed for the story. Motifs change and morph depending on the scene (when does it take place? sometimes it seems modern, sometimes like the 70s).

I thought it was pretty shit. Kind of fun to watch though.

Underrated comment. Movie was amazing but I can't relate to the fear as a 25 year old virgin.

Unlikely, I've held management positions and been in charge of teams of dozens of employees. All of which has required interpersonal skills and lots of socializing. If it's true, I guess I'm pretty high functioning then. Guess this is literally me.

yeah, the director said almost the same thing in an interview. good stuff

That good. The only other movie that I may consider better was The Babadook

Also It Follows has a god tier soundtrack

i just watched it again last night

Why are you guys saying its so good, whats so special about it?

>Babadook
I knew you'd say that

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post. Thank you sir, have a good day, and keep watching movies.

The younger sister was better

any supernatural fags here? how would these two have killed it? did this show ever do an episode with something similar?

i imagine it would only take them 10 minutes to kill this thing

I'm about to give it a watch right now. After I'm done I'll tell you if we like it or not.

get comfy user, a blanket and maybe some hot tea or cocoa

I know. It's strangely comfy to me, can't explain it. Still scary though

The sleepover scenes and driving scenes are comfy, like whenever they take of in the car you know things will be ok... for a while at least

It was pretty good felt like one of the old 80's slasher flicks with the music, but it was very repetitive, especially the second half.
Now we have a overhyper here

You sound like a teenager.

>Now we have a overhyper here
Tell me a better horror movie from this decade.

>we

A hentai cuddle pillow doesn't count, user.

>Supernatural fags
Not since season 5 faggot. And 10 mins, really? Theyre not that good to begin with

i'd make love to her sexy soles

From the top of my head I would say, Trick 'r Treat and maybe Krampus.

A decade is a long time user.
Pontypool, Trick R' Treat, The Innkeepers, The House of the Devil, Lake Mungo.

its pretty good. Probably the only fairly recent movie that promotes monogamy.

but if you actually saw the movie it was nothing like the 80s.

Pontypool and The Innkeepers are comfy horror

>pontypool
damn haven't seen that movie in 6 years. you know where I can watch it?

So how do you beat it?

>Not since season 5

You disgust me. I'm riding this train all the way to the end. This current season may be the worst though.

And it would take them about 45 minutes and a few people would get killed first, but I'm sure there's lore on this thing so they will find a way to kill it, that's for sure.

>Trick 'r Treat
Haven't watched that

>Krampus
No. It looked promising at first, but went downhill after 30 minutes when the action started. Amateurish directing

just fuck a sex worker and degeneracy will take care of the rest

Absolute shit. I am not even trolling right now; if you think this movie is good you are a wretched philistine normie.

Well its hard to do a season when you just came from Gods sister. Which by the way, was fucking retarded.
>What do we call the new big bad?
>Um...the darkness?
>Perfect!
>What about Death?
>Fuck him, we killed him off

Great premise, shit delivery.

Pic related is what happens when you do it right.

>A decade is a long time user.
I don't think you know the definiton of decade user. Literally all the movies you mentioned are before 2010 except Innkeepers, which was promising but there wasn't much to it. Definitely not better than It Follows.

That being said, House of the Devil is underrated

Yeah but sooner or later its going to get back to the prostitute, then you. It keeps working back. What if I take a plane to china, bang a Chinese whore, then fly home? I dont think its going to take a plane or be able to walk there

well i was thinking about amateur porn and shit like that. Its all connected. You fuck the right whore and she does a video with some nigga who does another video with some other girl and so on. the rate at which they fuck around would put some distance between you and the following thing pretty quickly.
and on top of that you could move to china

Tbh this trend of explicitly performing catharsis on modern fears by transforming them into spoopy monsters bores me to no end. Silent Hill did it so right nothing will compare to it, and that's a fucking videogame.

Just watched it. It was like creepy gloves for ma feet

Watching this now What should I expect?

Good post, mah mugga!!

A decade is ten years. What's the point of comparing movies specifically in 'this decade' if we're only 60% through it?

And no It Follows starts off strong, but falls apart a little in the middle when it becomes a teenage roadtrip movie. The ending is pretty poorly thought out and poorly executed. It Follows is strong in two aspects: 1) the original premise 2) building suspense that follows from it.

The Innkeepers on the other hand is solid throughout, barring maybe a certain scene where Sara Paxton will make you laugh. Its strength lies in building atmosphere and letting it crescendo to the finale. It also as a great setting and makes good use of it.

Which reminds me, REC is another one from the past decade that beats It Follows handily.

>It let's the kids slowly try to figure it out

Bullshit.

Among many other failures, the movie is ruined by her pals instantly believing this highly unlikely situation. Their disbelief would have created some useful psychological thrills from the protagonist's paranoia and inability to communicate her terror to others.

DEGENERACY

Really, just fuck some coal-burner. Hell, if you get taken out you'll have gotten rid of at least one ghetto.

>promotes monogamy
lol no
It's promoting one of two lifestyles: celibacy or wanton promiscuity. The idea that once you've caught the 'bug' you might as well spread it to as many people as you can to help you fight against it (so it becomes a big enough social problem that people will find a cure).

You might say it's promoting a bugchasing lifestyle for those with HPV.

GHOST AIDS

Wow such unique original plot

its not even remotely scary. these people saying its comfy horror are absolutely right. its 80s notalgia pabulum the same as stranger things.

>REC is another one from the past decade that beats It Follows handily.

Agreed. As did

VHS had its moments too, as did Babadook, and even Insidious and Sinister. All better.

I mean I saw it as her friends giving her the benefit of the doubt because the movie kind of establishes them as being bored suburban kids with an imagination.

It doesn't seem like they instantly buy into it, just trying to comfort their friend.

>It's one of those movies that’s so good that you start getting mad at it for not being great. It makes me not just disappointed but almost a little angry.

>He [writer-director David Robert Mitchell] could have kept his mythology straight. He broke his mythology left, right, and center. We see how the bad guys are: They're never casual. They're never just hanging around. They've always got that one look, and they always just progressively move toward you. Yet in the movie theater, the guy thinks he sees the woman in the yellow dress, and the girl goes, “What woman?” Then he realizes that it's the follower. So he doesn't realize it's the follower upon just looking at her? She’s just standing in the doorway of the theater, smiling at him, and he doesn’t immediately notice her? You would think that he, of anybody, would know how to spot those things as soon as possible. We spotted them among the extras.

>The movie keeps on doing things like that, not holding on to the rules that it sets up. Like, okay, you can shoot the bad guys in the head, but that just works for ten seconds? Well, that doesn't make any fucking sense. What's up with that? And then, all of a sudden, the things are aggressive and they're picking up appliances and throwing them at people? Now they're strategizing? That's never been part of it before. I don't buy that the thing is getting clever when they lower him into the pool. They're not clever.

>Also, there’s the gorgeously handsome geeky boy — and everyone's supposed to be ignoring that he's gorgeous, because that’s what you do in movies — that kid obviously has no problem having sex with her and putting the thing on his trail. He's completely down with that idea. So wouldn't it have been a good idea for her to fuck that guy before she went into the pool, so then at least two people could see the thing? It’s not like she'd have been tricking him into it. It’s what I would've done.

Well Sup Forums? Was Quentin Tarantino right?

Interesting concept, didn't really do anything too interesting with it.

Also: the power of friendship!

stupid.
the std thing is a stupid idea.
the reason most people just "pass it on" is because of the fact that they've lost any form of innocence and respect for others. the idea is that once you blow it you don't care, therefore you sleep around sharing this kind of social virus.

Comfy horror, as already stated. I did find it creepy though, cuz I had similar dreams two or three times.

Did he really say that? Yeah, all good points.

when that kids "mom" literally humps him to death i couldnt stop laughing. not even remotely scary, laughably bad

>paul
>gorgeous

lol wat

yes. based tarantula critic.

I loved the music. A bit too good for the movie desu.

I would argue The Witch is better, since it doesn't have that weird pool scene or the super-distracting seashell reader. Solid movie though - I'd rec it to anyone who likes horror or a decent watch.

vulture.com/2015/08/how-quentin-tarantino-would-fix-it-follows.html

>Comfy horror

So it's confirmed...it's a "girl's" horror movie.

>A decade is ten years. What's the point of comparing movies specifically in 'this decade' if we're only 60% through it?
When people say "this decade", they mean the decade they're in. It's been 7 years, there could've been good competition, but there are not better horror movies out there. Doesn't change my argument.

>it becomes a teenage roadtrip movie
That's a good thing. In fact, in the first quarter of the movie, I thought it will be like the other horror movies where the main character is alone again dealing with this supernatural thing, and it proved me wrong right away. The other characters around her also witnessed it in the middle of the movie. It went against a horror cliche. Also I liked that they tried to deal it as a team.

>The ending is pretty poorly thought out and poorly executed.
Disagree. The ending was perfect.

About Innkeepers, building the atmosphere was good. Other than that I can't firmly say anything about it. Honestly I don't remember the movie that well, it's been quite a while since I watched it but it didn't make that much impression on me. Ti West is really talented though

It's not just that. Bugchasers ACTIVELY seek to infect other people. It's a misery love company sort of deal.

I really liked how The Witch doesn't try to be a horror movie but a dark folk tale, and it's still creepy.
Hell, at first I expected everything to be just puritans being superstitious.

Try to guess what type of person recommended me the film.

Yeah but wouldnt burn through them pretty quick since they dont know whats happening? Of course then you have a dozen people marked and therefore able to see it thus increasing the odds of capturing/killing it (if possible). Wait, why cant they just trick it into falling down a mine shaft or something?

I'm currently downloading Trick R Treat, The Innkeepers, House of the Devil, Pontypool and Lake Mungo. You faggots better not be meming me about these being good.

Huh, Big Q.T has some points.

That's what drew me into it as well - it's just creepy and kind of haunting without going for hard scares or anything like that. It takes it's time, which is very refreshing in an era of jump scares and found footage. Which is exactly why I loved It Follows as well. It's got a couple problems, but it's still really solid and it delivers. Also, that fucking soundtrack is sublime.

>When people say "this decade", they mean the decade they're in.
Which is a pointless demarcation as mentioned before since there was no major cultural shift between anything post 2006 and 2016, and as I've said before we're only 60% through it. Which is 6 years, not 7. This decade started in 2011 not 2010.

Whole thing is moot anyways, since it wasn't the best in the past 6 years. It was notable for sure.

Agree with this. Still probably the best horror movie I've ever seen, but that's not saying much because they're all literal shit for some reason.

I loved it. Had an awesome soundtrack too
