Did any “scenes” in the ‘60s view them as uncool?

Did any “scenes” in the ‘60s view them as uncool?

probably a vast majority of the human population and especially of all other species did not give a fuck

Lou Reed hated Beatles, The Doors and many other artists.

Lou Reed didn't actually hate the Beatles, John Cale says they were both big fans of them, Lou was just being a contrarian by saying that

>Did any “scenes” in the ‘60s view them as uncool?
Sgt. Pepper was a wet dream of the flower power "scene" at the time, so I doubt any psychedelic rock or pop bands hated them. Any of their contemporaries more imaginative than that could have.

Jazz scenes originally looked down on the Beatles. Look through old issues of Downbeat from '64-'66 and you'll find a lot of disparaging remarks about the Beatles and Rock n Roll in general.

were they the nickelback of the 60s? if not, then who was?

There are exacly six people in Liverpool and eleven in Hamburg that have never forgiven the Beatles for letting Best go

The Doors

Fair in both aspects. Rock music just began reaching heights it deserved after '66.

Take anything Lou Reed says with a grain of salt, the man was trying his damn hardest to be a contrarian when in reality he was in fucking love with all things pop.
Curiously enough by 1964 you have a quartet of Grant Green, Hank Mobley, Larry Young and Elvin Jones taking I Want To Hold Your Hand as a standard, and Herbie Hancock definitely liked Rubber Soul. So the jazz scene kinda looked down on The Beatles (Evans in particular), kinda was interested in them and where they took music because ultimately they're great composers (seriously, you could feasibly play Maybe I'm Amazed as a standard without actually ever changing any chords and it'd sound like a jazz standard, it's impressive).

It's odd.

Imagine how butt blasted jazz fags were when they knew they could play better than any rock band but could never be as popular. Must fucking suck.

>hahha they're not popular, lozerzx
>butt blasted jazz fags
Are you 12?

This would make a good album cover for a christian power violence band that will never exist

Then they spergged out in the 70s with fusion and everyone was like, ya no thanks. Then they fucking lost it with shit synths in the 80s. Despite what a jazz man ever tells you, they were just working men like any other and they tried whatever they could to make that money. There is a reason why JAZZ as it is now known really just means swing and bop.

Davis' best stuff was fusion, though.

You're 13, my apologies.

>King Crimson
>Jimi Hendrix
>Frank Zappa

I mean they all played their instruments great and were popular. Music changed, thats it. You can't really call jazz superior in any way.

Both did at least something original. Something more like the Walker Brothers would do it

Zappa

jazz fusion actually gave jazz more life. it probably would have completely died if it werent for miles. But yeah.

This is 80's jazz

The Rippingtons are great, thanks for sharing this, never heard of them.

You heard, bitches brew, angatha and pangea, right? Those were basically 3 live jams. You are not including shit like tutu are you? Anyways he barely played by the end. Just stared down his musicians with his red trumpet meming about how white people are evil and shiet. If you want to come off as refined just say sketches of spain is his best work and everyone will suck your sophisticated dick.
Im an old fuck who can play circles around you. Im still correct.

The Rolling Stones, or at least Keith Richards didn't like their music from Sgt. Peppers onwards

>Between the Button
>Her Satanic Majesties Request
He didn't like it, just copied it huh?

Correct about what? Your personal preference in music? And don't pretend like anyone who uses masterpieces such as "butt blasted jazz fags", "spergged out" should be taken seriously in the first place.

>implying Keith Richards was the only one making creative decisions in the band

he also said that Their Satanic Majesties Request was an album none of them wanted to make

Brian Wilson had more talent in his damaged ear than Lennon or McCartney had in their entire bodies. Harrison was better off without them and all.
