Abbey Road is overrated but Rubber Soul and Revolver are accurate. Agreed on Bjork and Bowie. A lot of other really good picks too (Love, The Doors, Davis, Dilla)

The hate mostly stemmed from a combination of hateful Rolling Stone reviewers, Metallica fans being the eternally unsatisfied type, and lyric cherrypicking memes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's actually a great Lou Reed solo album with Metallica relegated to providing cool riffs as a backing band. He sounds incredibly fragile and does Wedekind's play justice very well.

it's arguably the best compilation of pop music ever put together
3 discs of music produced by phil spector; artists on the box set include the crystals, the ronettes, darlene love, ike & tina turner and the righteous brothers. spector was the first producer to really take his profession seriously, and through infusing wagner-esque characteristics he proved that pop music could be so much more than simple ditties for kids. his productions are larger than life, deeply complex, and ultimately very emotional and accessible.
look out for songs like "he's a rebel," "then he kissed me," "river deep - mountain high," "black pearl," "be my baby" and "you've lost that lovin' feelin'". the christmas album is pretty entertaining too, but IMO the first 3 discs are the most important.
