I chose it cause it's memorable and it makes the song sound so much more sinister. The sluggish pace and the struggle in the vocals paint a completely different picture of the lyrics. Although I love their other covers too, Simple Man and The Chauffer being other favorites of mine

I guess I can't really disagree with that, i just don't personally believe it's their best cover, and the impact and influence of the Original is almost too much to be able to top. but if I had to choose I would say Drive is probably my favorite cover of theirs, and beats The Cars version as well
I don't think there's a bad Deftones cover out there, the only one I can think of is Caress, not because it's bad but because it does nothing for me compared to the Drive Like Jehu original
