HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
Well written in terms of songwriting or lyricism?
idk
If You're Feeling Sinister, Illmatic, Townes Van Zandt
also thought this but since it's /lit/ I assumed lyrically well-written
literary devices like the extended metaphors in hospice
This one is pretty good
what the fuck is going on why are there 18 hospice threads is it 2009
the antlers-hospice
>Townes Van Zandt
yes
idk if this is the most well written album ive heard but estranged, locomotive, dont cry and civil war are some of the best written song lyrics imo
>muh dadrock
yeah shut up
listen to nick cave, its pretty cheesy but well-written
im the user who posted use your illusion to this thread and even i think this is a bad choice
I've noticed that as well
let me live, user
whole fucking album is a metaphor, and a dumb one at that
the entire album is too fucking sad.

He's a great lyricist, noone can deny that. Dory Previn is also really good.
I really don't care for that album
ofc
Honestly.

not surprising
hospice and honeybear are essentially exact opposite albums. they're both autobiographical albums but tillman is much more obvious about the details where silberman makes allusions and forces you to piece together what he means. plus honeybear is the story of a happy couple where hospice is about one that is falling apart.
I think you mean wellest-written

lol sure

I like Aeroplane Over The Sea's lyrics. It's pretty straight forward most of the time, but also very thoughtful. It says pretty things.
Just Got Back from the Discomfort- We're Alright- Brave Little Abacus
"I can't remember what it was I felt
Or heard, or saw, or touched after hearing the word "hello"
Dancing figures intimate, I know
But there was more involved that made me believe
That there were two of them and only one of me
It gets harder to see them as the water rises, as I criticize it
It's his eye, it fills the glass, it's all that I could ask for
He is drowning in the same room as me
And it's the very thing that makes me believe
That there are two of him and only one of me"
shit thread so far
I liked A Crow Looked At Me.
Bob Dylan? Never heard of that band.
thats more like the Sup Forums of albums
"Belligerent ghouls run Manchester schools" is probably the greatest opening line to an album ever
anything frank ocean. songwriter of the generation
xD
>Blister please with those wings in your spine
>Love to be with a brother of mine
>How he'd love to find your tongue in his teeth
>In a struggle to find secret songs that you keep wrapped in boxes so tight
>Sounding only at night as you sleep
>it's pretty straight forward
how could I forget Smiths, and Morrissey in general
Thought these were rap lyrics and read in Biggie Smalls voice
i also think of this one
go listen to your gay waifu shit lmfao
inb4 gay, furry, gay furry, etc
>t. gay furry
Fuck off will go back to failing at sample clearance
only the first line of that is very unaccessible, the rest I'd read as a metaphor for the difficulty of openness between two people, with the secret songs being your actual self. Not saying my reading is anywhere near objectively correct, but that it isn't too hard to read a meaning into.
Only good post in this thread
YES.

Really liked this album until I've seen them live. This arrogant motherfucker told to the public that nobody even understand what he is singing about. He thought that were not sad enough after his fucking cancer songs. Never listened to them again. And it was the first time I've been to live show in my country of the band I really liked.
I came here to trigger /lit/ by posting this. I still don't get why Bob Dylan of all people was selected for a Nobel Prize of Literature, no matter how good his lyrics are.
ITAOTS got me into lyrics in music, but that album was the first album that I actually made an effort to understand the lyrics
its pretty great desu
Earl sweatshirt easily
TBK and The Seer get honorable mentions
Honestly
radiohead did it better
The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apt.
J. Tillman
Oh, I just love the kind of woman
Who can walk over a man
I mean like a god damn marching band
She says, like literally
Music is the air she breathes
And the malaprops make me want to fucking scream
I wonder if she even knows what that word means
Well, it's literally not that
Of the few main things I hate about her
One's her petty, vogue ideas
Someone's been told too many times
They're beyond their years
By every half-wit of distinction she keeps around
And now every insufferable convo
Features her patiently explaining the cosmos
Of which she's in the middle
Oh my God, I swear this never happens
Lately, I can't stop the wheels from spinning
I feel so unconvincing
And I fumble with your buttons
She blames her excess on my influence
But gladly Hoovers all my drugs
I found her naked with her best friend in the tub
We sang "Silent Night" in three parts which was fun
'Til she said that she sounds just like Sarah Vaughan
I hate that soulful affectation white girls put on
Why don't you move to the Delta?
I obliged later on
When you begged me to choke ya
Blows my mind every fucking time.
King Park and First reactions after falling through the ice, by La Dispute are my vote.
