i almost posted a new thread, fortunately i checked before posting

news from the last thread:
>Landon doesn't have a ride for next year
>Danica will drive a car with the number 7 in it
>Keselowski will drive a throwback paint skin of his 08-09 NAVY car
>Indycar is testing the new car
>we almost got of sonoma, almost
>OFF TOPIC: chileans finally realised that they suck at soccer

someone could have made an actual motor/sp/ort thread with a schedule but you shit out another one

That someone could been you. But you didn't, did you? No, you didn't. Know what? When this one shits the bed, I'm going to make the same thread again, just to piss you off.

More people could learn from you Texas

because it's fuckin wednesday, man, and we don't usually post until thursday or friday

And yet here you are.

Couple more pics from the Chevrolet test at Road America.
ECR’s Spencer Pigot and Penske’s Simon Pagenaud drove.

...

Last one.

That visor cam is bad ass.

I need this in a sim NOW

Nice and wavy

pure sex

Really excited for Indycar next year.
More than F1 with the fucking Halo.

Indycar will still be testing an aero screen of some kind before the end of the year.
They’ve stated it will be smaller than the Shield and not as curved. They’re trying to solve the low pressure area that occurs in the cockpit, the distortion is a non issue since the angle isn’t so extreme.

The drivers rounding out Penske’s IMSA lineup.
Would not have called Graham Rahal as a choice, but HPD might have wanted him and his dad was pretty fond of IMSA GTP’s.

Wait so graham isn't racing Indy next season?

He's an endurance driver like indycar drivers have been doing for years.

>A group of NASCAR execs are in China to attend opening of Ningbo International Speedpark and visit with auto/sport execs there, per sources.

Interesting

Post Charlotte penalty roundup:

Couple more

...

I'm retarded. I thought this was implying he was going full time with helio

Looks like the EU is about to genuinely kill European motorsport

the-mia.com/Vnuk-Update

poole is heading out of ganassi, apperantly he's going to drive the 27 in cup next year

motorsport.com/nascar-xs/news/nascar-poole-ganassi-part-ways-rcr-964429/

That's surprising

The dream is dead.

This opens up Portland provided they have a strong promoter in place.

Hopefully they don’t try a fucking Nashville parking lot Race.

For those wondering why it wasn’t possible, the Labor Day weekend date is garbage. Other races have particular contractual clauses or weather considerations that prevent running during a different time, and there’s also the TV windows to consider from other series on NBC.(that’s the usual reason there are off-weekends, TV windows)

I could see an international stock car association.

Who are some other active stock car nations:
-U.S.
-Mezko
-Brazil
-Oz

I think most everybody else is focused on sport cars and road racing.

...

what's button gonna do then?

It's just a shame that the major overseas ovals are all kill.
>South Africa track basically rotting
>Motegi basically rotting
>Australian Thunderdome basically rotting
>UK Rockingham disabled
>Lausitzring disabled

If I remember correctly Motegi was damaged by an earthquake a few years back and the cost to fix it is more money then Honda wants to put into a track that nobody uses.

The problem with most of these tracks is the same reason Nascar stopped going to tracks like North Wilksborough: they are too big for a local every week series but too small (facilities wise) for anyone that could actually use the track to its potential.

who tf funded/built the South African oval in the first place?

Indycar 2018 Schedule releases tomorrow.
Expect everything the same, but Portland instead of Watkins Glen.

...

Who is this dude?

Have the Mexico City rumors gone away?

I might actually have to watch some imsa this season, that Penske lineup gives me an erection

anyone have any insight why ricky decided not to race for his dad?

>that accident started the potatoing of Jr's brain

Because his dads pay check probably isnt the same as what Penske can write.

lemansprototypes.over-blog.it/2017/01/lmp2-double-face.html

neat side by side visualization of LMP2s and their DPi counterparts

pic unrelated

The earthquake and Gutierrez lack of money probably shuttered those plans for 2018.

I don't think we can survive indy ending + divegrass autism + handegg autism

feels bad man

Xfinity lineup for next year looks like horseshit

>Nascar existing in 5 years

It's going to look worse m8.

the 20 car field for the 2021 Daytona 500 will be STACKED

>that rpm flatline all the way from the caroussel to Canada corner

he's a Honda driver, the japs will figure out something
>acura factory vs cadillac customer
there's not much to think
was the icing on the cake actually, the kentucky crash started the problem

This thread seems to have the least amount of shitskins and poverty ball lovers, I think I'll stay here

meant for

Yeah, by the time he reaches the kink there’s no more acceleration left.
Although he makes it through 5th pretty quick still, so I think they might have had 6th gear really long intentionally, because he barely accelerates at all there.
T-there’s still hope r-right?
H-he was just sandbagging, the engines haven’t been upgraded f-for 2018...

>the 20 car field for the 2021 Daytona 500

IROC races ran like 12 cars and were great, even with the road racers and shit.

A 20 car field of GOOD cars and drivers would be awesome.

Same kind of gearing as they had this year. I guess it's for p2p drafting and the higher rev limit alone isn't enough.

Any field size at a restrictor plate race is great. the problem is once you go to any 1.5 miler.

>Nashville parking lot Race

please elaborate

like in the parking lot of the superspeedway? Or wherever the Titans play?

It's criminal Nashville doesn't get anything bigger then ARCA for racing. Huge racing culture there. The fairground Saturday night races were always kino. And one of the few places Nascar scouts actually pay attention to. Not to mention several smaller local tracks in the suburbs and outskirts.

wasn't iroc a spec racing series?

Yea.

All the cars belonged to and were prepped by IROC, and the drivers essentially drew lots before each race to select their cars.

It was pure driver vs. driver racing, and you could see the difference between dudes that knew how to draft, like Dale, and those that didn't.

It would be the football stadium.
I’d rather see Nashville’s oval(is it in good shape?) in use by Indycar.

Sounds like Portland is the replacement, my stomach would sink if it was the Parking lot race.

I need some NASCAR webms

...

You'll have to be more specific then that friendo

this one has a car in it I think

DELET THIS RIGHT NOW

kek

don't they (nascar) announce these kind of changes on publicly available channels?

I've seen rule updates posted on the NASCAR web site, so it shouldn't be a surprise that they change shit throughout the year.

I mean he's got a point, but you can't just show up two thirds of the way through the season, slap a truck together blindly, and expect it to be race ready. Do your homework.

>showing up half way through the season with last year's rule package and expect no problems

come on man even local tracks update the rules/specs every year

that sucks because it's a great race and labor day weekend is a horrible date

It's official:

>As Furniture Row Racing looks ahead to the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, the Denver, Colo. based team is not planning to field the No. 77 Toyota as a second car entry. It is our organization’s goal to operate a two-car team in the future and we will continue to seek sponsorship funding for the No. 77. Our 100 percent focus for next season will be on the No 78 Toyota Camry, which will be driven by Martin Truex Jr.

There's the European NASCAR series.
I don't think anyone watches it, afaik they race on normal tracks.

More reports of Portland Raceway being Watkins Glen’s replacement.
Officials at Portland stated that they’ll have something to announce today.

Schedule releases in a couple hours.

WG is a great track, good for TV even if there is no audience. INDY management is just so fucking bad at everything.

Exactly. This guy is just blowing off some steam, and he did end up making a constructive criticism, so good on him.

Having said that, he knows deep in his heart that he should have been keeping up with the rules, whether by staying in touch with other teams that race more regularly (it's as simple as asking to go have coffee with someone) or paying closer attention.

That, or, you know, asking NASCAR when he paid his entry fees to race.

I agree.
I don’t think the Glen is gone for good.
They may try next year to get it on the 2019 Schedule on a different weekend.
I don’t the Glen is as specific as Fontana when it comes to the weekend they want.

>as well as a New Race
>New Race

Is he just talking about Portland or did they somehow align the stars and get both Portland and Mexico?

What did he mean by this?

100% guarantee he's talking about portland

Not that we didn’t know.

It does sound more positive than the usual breakups that Indycar has.

So when is the schedule officially out? Even though I know it will be literally the same -WG +Portland I still am curious

right now

...

it's out.

>Official track activities for the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season begin with two days of open testing at Phoenix Raceway on Feb. 9-10.
All races on the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series schedule will be broadcast by longstanding television partners ABC and NBCSN, as well as the Advance Auto Parts IndyCar Radio Network. The final broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.
>The 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series race schedule, by venue, is as follows:
March 11 – Streets of St. Petersburg
April 7 – Phoenix Raceway
April 15 – Streets of Long Beach
April 22 – Barber Motorsports Park
May 12 – Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course
May 27 – Indianapolis 500
June 2-3 – Raceway at Belle Isle Park
June 9 – Texas Motor Speedway
June 24 – Road America
July 8 – Iowa Speedway
July 15 – Streets of Toronto
July 29 – Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
Aug. 19 – Pocono Raceway
Aug. 25 – Gateway Motorsports Park
Sept. 2 – Portland International Raceway
Sept. 16 – Sonoma Raceway

its literally the fucking same but portland swapped with WGI

What did the City of Portland’s sign mean by this?

Indycar shooting themselves in the foot by continuing their insistence on ending the season in September

Most track’s contracts are up at the end of 2018.
That is when we’ll potentially see a heavily revised schedule and format.

>Bell Isle following the 500 AGAIN
REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>Iowa
>flipped Texas
No

The west coast was a mistake

Mexico City still has a tentative date in March or the old WEC date in August.

March would be ideal as it ensures the race is far away from F1’s date.
It would not have time to receive much promotion though. The earthquake certainly didn’t help anything.

Esteban Gutierrez is a requirement for the race to go ahead though so that may be why we haven’t heard anything from SPM’s seats. Hinchcliffe wants a teammate like Wickens, while Indycar May be putting pressure for Esteban.
Silly Season is still very silly until everyone is seated and the music stops.

motorsport.com/indycar/news/2018-indycar-schedule-portland-on-the-glen-gone-mexico-provisional-964550
Source on that.

Guys should we unite /f1/ and motor/sp/orts?

We're all petrolheads, right? Let's unite our sports. It will be great banter.

IndyCar and NASCAR are pretty cool, I just don't know much about them. If we unite our motorsports, we will all benefit from a greater access to motorsport action. Whaddya say?

You know both sides would be stubborn autists about it.

Actually having searched the archives, it looks like you do mention F1 in the opening posts of these threads all the time

Maybe I should just come to these threads more then

/f1/ is full of degenerates and paedophiles anyway
