Burger here. What's the greatest football game ever played that there's video available of?
I'm an occasional football watcher trying to learn more about the sport, so I'd like to check out some of the all-time classics if possible. If there's video of the entire game rather than just parts, that would be best.
Question for football fans

Last Super Bowl was a classic.
Cal-Stanford probably
That Arizona and Green Bay game in the playoffs like in 2011 was pretty great desu
Those games are great, but I mean soccer-football. I'm already a big American football fan.
Watch the first time a team got 5 stars:
Brazil vs Germany WC final 2002
'84 Orange Bowl
Either, and it can be at any level. I'm interested in games that show off the best aspects of the sport.
Gonna have to go with Super Bowl XLIII. Got damn was that a dramatic rollercoaster finish.
This one is on youtube and it has ronaldo and ronaldinho playing
biggest humiliation in the history of the sport: 7-1
greatest comeback in the history of the sport: Champions League Final 2005
There was a great game in 2004 between the Czech Republic and Holland. It had it all; great goals, horrendous fouls, red cards
Hard to say. Total blowouts like 8-0 are generally garbage because the losing side gives up and the winning side know they've already won so they stop trying.
Newcastle 4-4 Arsenal always causes butthurt among Arsenal fans though. Mainly because >Newcastle were 4-0 down within the first 20 minutes and Newcastle should have won 5-4. Though Tiote's (rip) goal, the only one he scored for Newcastle, couldn't have been better to make the score 4-4.
Did it have tiny men falling down and writhing in fake pain every 4 seconds? That's my favorite part.
Brazil vs Holland 1998
Every Kansas City Chiefs game this year has been hype to watch senpai
Just.
Independiente 5 Boca 4 2012
OP here... thanks for all of the suggestions!
portugal x netherlands 2006

this match showcases pep's genius
7-1
Italy-Germany 4-3
1970 WC semifinal.
5 goals in the extra time.
Germany 1 - 5 England
France Brazil 1986 (afaik record time for ball in play for a WC match)
France Germany 1982 (dramatic match were the bad guys win at the end)
...
that match was great. remembering being in the pub and the odd city fan crying about 'corrupt league' when Owen scored
From personal memory 2 international games that were absolute memes and fun as fuck were:
England - Germany Euro 96 (semi final )
England - Argentina World Cup 98 (1/4 final/2nd round can't remember)
I'm sure the 98 game exists online I don't know about the 96 one. World Cup 98 had amazing games in general.
Fc Porto vs Benfica, 11th May 2013
Also Supercup Bayern vs Chelsea. Can't recall the year
youtube.com
these are always fun.
this fucking match
Miracle of Istanbul
this, in full

Butthurt Bayern fag? That Man U comeback in 1999 CL final extra time was more amazing than the Liverpool - Milan one.
not the best but find one of the Chile vs Peru match that ended with a shower of goals. It was a battlefield, from the crowd to the players (theres animosity between em). Find the peruvian or chilean commentators ofc.
Brazil vs Netherlands in 1998 wc semis
DELET THIS
>scousers think 2005 fluke win was a good match
lmao le slippy G dive and wins match lol
Never realised that all the goalscorers in this goal glut here were British - English, Welsh, and Scottish. Quite rare in modern PL.
I hate Liverpool but come on, it was a great match.
I think coming back from 3-0 down at half time is about equal to coming back from 1-0 down in injury time is aproximately equal. Man United only had to score one goal to make it level, Liverpool had to score three - in Man United's case they had far less time and Bayern were shellshocked enough to let in another.
Algeria-morocco can 2004 quarter final
No i'm not joking
look at this shit
Maybe I just like it better, because of Koffour slamming his fist on the ground after the whistle.
Brasil vs Germany WC 2014
From Brazil:
Best game of decade 2010-2020
youtube.com
Best game of decade 2000-2010
Great teams, Milan team especially with only world class players(except Dida maybe). But the Man U - Bayern was great also.
Solkjaer mimicking Basler's sliding goal celebration which took place an hour and half earlier in the game was also memorable. The best footballers are the ones who are determined and remember the knockbacks that end up bringing them back into the game.
Dinamo Zagreb - Red Star Belgrade 1990
Manchester United vs Real Madrid UCL 2003

Netherlands vs Brazil during the 1974 is probably the best game to watch for Muricans calling it divegrass.
the most dramatic ending in the history of sports

the croatian wonder in 98

the match which started the whole video refree thing

the 96 czech team and this goal specifically

the match which gave back germany's pride
Another international game because a lot of people have posted club games so far, from the 1982 World Cup. The eventual champions vs the best Brazil side never to win the WC.
Watching maradona memeing all the way to a wc in '86 is a hilarious activity
Not sure if the greatest, but they were fun
Gemany 7- 1 Brazil
Reading 5-7 Arsenal
Boca 4 - 5 Independiente youtu.be
Netherlands - Argentina 1998 WC Quarterfinal was great too.

If you're trying to decide between games, just a pro tip about th evolution of the sport:
In the 80s and 90s (and before) the game was much more physical. Defenders were expected to dispossess opponents by tackling instead of by covering or pressing while staying on their feet. Attackers tended to sprint often. The whole game was a slower in the sense that the ball didn't move up the pitch as fast.
In the 2000s there was a more defensive style strategy that emerged with mourinho and others employing 3 in central mid, instead of the usual 3. That being said, players were in better condition and equipment (balls and the actual playing surface) got much better so the game sped up.
Modern day game is all about defending with high pressure. Generally they play the ball on the ground more and tackling is less common.
Anyway, in terms of games you should watch 2005 champions league final, 1999 champions league final, and the recentish (2013?) champions league semi finals that were Dortmund - Real Madrid (4-1, 0-3)
THERE IS BEAR CUM
2005 UEFA Champions League Final, Liverpool v AC Milan, la'. The Miracle of Istanbul:
Not a big match, but an entretaining one
Friendly match between River Plate (arg) Vs Poland NT
ended with a 6-5
and the last goal was this
Based Enzo
I don't rate Istanbul desu. Had they won on regular time or even E.T., I would've but they just fluked a pen win. It doesn't feel like a genuine comeback.
Watch at 4:10
Were the balls pumped up more back then? Why can nobody hammer it like this any more?
>and the recentish (2013?) champions league semi finals that were Dortmund - Real Madrid (4-1, 0-3)
yeah the 2012-13 CL semifinal.
...
#YNWA
>*instead of the usual 2
my old man had a picture of Enzo's chilena on his wall... oh man, the feels
>1998
>not 1978
there is bear cum is a gem, but come on now.
This isn't the greatest match ever, but it's the greatest team performance ever and should be watched if you haven't seen it. Barcelona 5-0 Real Madrid. 2010.
Bear cum match was great boludo, the suspense ended with that goal... uff
best 3 soccer games ever
1986 argentina - germany WC final
1982 italy - germany WC final
1970 italy - germany WC semifinal
Fucking 2005 is referred to as "back then" now?
also Ger-Ita 0-2 in 2006 had the best last minutes of ET of any football game ever
what a great game, I was just a child at the time how time flies
The game has changed a lot in 12 years.
>those feet
hnnngh
All of those players have since retired from the highest level, its a different generation now.
with all due respect boludo, you must be 12 or something
>most exciting match
agueroooooooo
youtube.com
>most physical
The battle of Nuremberg had 4 red cards and 16 yellow cards
I didn't say 78s was a bad match tho
Are these in chronological order?
Last minutes of Ghana-Uruguay 2010 WC.
I don't know, I didn't check one by one against the full match.
you're welcome to do it.
fuck that was a good one
Suarez running while the security guy tries to make him walk to locker room
USC-Texas Rose Bowl is probably my favorite.
Super Bowl XLIII was really good, and it would've been the GOAT game if the good guys won.
youtube.com
here you are. i don't even support city but it's still one of the greatest moments ever
Santos 4 x 5 Flamengo at 2011 Campeonato Brasileiro
It was the duel between young Neymar and old Ronaldinho, the best game no one outside Brazil ever saw.
youtube.com
Losing this, and how many years later? 2,3? winning the premier league.
Dude Leicester made me shit my pants that day in old trafford
Romania - Argentina '94.
youtube.com
This one is still on youtube because the English care. Not much else. The best ones are missing like France vs. W. Germany from 1982.
There's also Bayern vs. Manchester from 1999
Are really England and Argentina rivals? I know there some bad vibes between the teams but... really?
>Dudek
>Šmicer
>Baroš
