agreed OP, at least with regards to rock/metal/blues. there's talent in a lot of them, but none really step outside the mold and are truly wowing. the only guitarist who actually does for me is eddie van halen, and probably for most of the world too when their debut came out. eddie's technical and songwriting abilities are in a different league than anyone else in rock.
