While travelling I've managed to make friends with people from pretty much every culture (even Muslims), but the one people who have always eluded me are the Chinese. They are just a VERY weird people desu, and so incredibly deferential and overly polite that I can't connect with them at all.

Basically the poorman's pleco as you can get the pro version of the dictionary and the camera app on mobilism.org. Just register for an account and search the app name. I can't get the camera app to work though.

The dictionary at zhonga.org gives excerpts from tv shows and movies for a given word/phrase. A site with similar functionality but for English is youglish.com.

Well that one's especially not gunna make sense translated because the joke is that she's using the "foreign name" characters to make homophones for "handsome fella". Really its all explained in the booru.
工厂 is a factory.
厂家 is manufacturer(s). So you can use it to refer to a maker or company, or even a whole industries.
those two have similar meaning but used in different situation/context
let's just say, if the contexts are in some sort of supplier or vendor stuff, u use 厂家
for instance:
- 找厂家供货
- 厂家批发直销
other than that, u use 工厂
anyway there are situations where two words can both be used
from the chinese I have learned that respect all people is important, because they can be useful in the future

But there are both kinds (although depending on your country it may only be one kind). You just have to make sure you know which kind you are signing up for.

I was actually watching it for about an hour before asking. It seems to have it for the documentary parts and not the news parts. Still the best I've found but it would be nice to have one where the real modern news parts had subs

There was someone who took the normal one and converted it straight to traditional but it might be hard to find. You could probably do it yourself with a script (it might have some mistakes but the deck already has some mistakes so no big deal).
When you're doing spoonfed I recommend doing it as a listening deck, so the hanzi really don't matter that much.

There's no reason not to learn both. Both are pretty easy if you know Japanese and after you learn one enough to comfortably read drama subtitles it's pretty trivial to pick up the other.
Agreed, most ppl that only learned simplified usually have no trouble reading traditional by high school or college. Many of the words only have their radicals simplified, so if you remember one you will remember them all. Japanese actually uses half simplified half traditional, countries took inspiration from one another when they went through the same process.

Thanks! I think I'll use the deck as-is as a listening deck and use that Exercises in Written Chinese book that /lang/ recommends (despite the Wade-Giles usage) to pave over any gaps in my knowledge of Traditional.
