Well established fact
Paid in Full
niggas actually believe this lmao
this but unironically
not the best, but massivley underrated.
unparalleled flow chemistry and solid production
I think Madvillainy has too much influence and importance to be ignored as the probable best
I keep going back to MBDTF trying to understand why anyone would consider it among the best albums hip-hop has to offer, when Kanye alone has better albums suited for that like TCD or LR, hell even the last edit of Pablo is better than MBDTF.
This list is almost on point though I would take out TPAB and include some Outkast album.
The more hip-hop I listen to the more genius this album becomes. There's so many different sounds and the interplay between the MCs make it still sound fresh decades later. Most hip-hop just sounds monotone in comparison.
Tariq Nasheed - Wash Yo Ass
I know everyone likes this but you don't often see it named as one of the best ever. It deserves it.
Nothing wrong with 2/3 of those albums.
Mostly coming down the production, I don't know of any other mainstream hip-hop album with such lush production, and the rock influences are implemented in a tasteful way.
That being said, I have the exact same problem with 36 Chambers. Just can't get into Wu-Tang at all. I love OutKast and ATCQ, but I am not able to sit through a single Wu-Tang album. Might be the fact I'm not a native speaker so don't pick up lyrics on-the-fly.
Fuck off rym-asslicker
It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold us Back.
CHEETOS AND FRITOS
This is pretty LIT.
Either of these
These are awesome
You already posted it OP
Aww shucks, thanks for agreeing
remove the first 2 and you'd be correct :)
I share a board with people with opinions like these
Madvillainy is great but I don't think it's possible to argue the other two come anywhere close to 36 Chambers and Illmatic.
I would never consider anything produced after 1987 to be great. Hip-hop died after NWA imo
(you have to be severely retarded to hold this opinion seriously)
36 chambers, ATLiens or maybe Stankonia, MBDTF, Illmatic and this should all be in the conversation
honrable mention to Supreme Clientele
dont @ me
lol canibus sucks dick
It's OB4CL you nerds
this is a mixtape and isn't hip-hop
OBJECTIVE FUCKING/10 RATING INCOMING
This looks good.
I probably missed a bunch of text posts.
mixtapes count in the discussion because they are collections of music and why do you say its not hip hop
this is a personal favourite but their albums are nowhere near consistent enough to be all-time greats
popping? what are we popping?
No your just a mark. Early canibus had the entire industry on his dick
silly(iffy) nigga detected
don't mind me just being the best hip-hop album
not even dre's best album
56% / 100
An emerging art form got turned into niggery and yo i gots dis stuff. NY hip hop from the 70s and 80s shits all over the fucking nigger criminal garbage
lyrical content dictates quality of music
shut the fuck up brainlet, I'll give you De La Soul because they were better than anything that came at least 15 years after but don't even try
I've never properly looked at this album cover before, man it's fucking creepy
Oh? Jazz, bebop and blues inspired music is better than 3 second looped "beats" with absolute garbage vocals and lyrics on top?
I'll give you something, I totally forgot Low End Theory was a 90s release not late 80s. After that you could definitely call the genre dead
It cant be too bad if tommy Wright III is on it
Seriously pit that basic shit against most classic hip-hop albums from the 00's and 10's - of course they're essential but most of them are horrendously dated and don't hold a candle whatsoever to the intricacies of the production of a solid modern hip-hop album.
It's not their fault either, we've just moved on, your favourites are antiquated, we're all tired of them
ahh yes I'll just relax to this inferior music while I enjoy all these wholesome lyrics which make the music better because it's wholesome and not degenerate at all
come out your shelter you fucking child
Wait, you actually like the final version of Pablo? It's dogshit, the original release has so much more charm to it. And I don't tucking know what the fuck you're going on about, MBTDF is his best hands down
Debate with me
Production isn't anything special that hasn't already been done before, and he is a decent rapper but he pitch shifts his fucking voice too much, not to mention his voice is garbage anyway
the production is the biggest redeeming factor of this album
Can't say I'm a fan of it
Either this or Aceyalone's Book of Human Language.
hilarious how youngfags actually think to pimp a butterfly has ANYTHING on 36 chambers.
Not a huge Kendrick fan, but 36 Chambers is boring as fuck.
No 36 chambers is classic from the instant you hear BRING DA MUTHAFUCKIN RUCKIS
oblivion access is better
I wish it brought a ruckus. Everything from the production to the rapping falls so flat for me.
So much better than Illmatic too
Not really. I enjoyed Illmatic much more, the production side of things isn't nearly as one-dimensional and I like Nas' timbre and rhymes more than anybody from Wu Tang.
If you say so, personally I think I may stand for everything you don't stand for, we might be natural born enemies
I'd rather not, I'm asexual
My second choice
More like assexual.
shook ones pt. II greatest beat OAT
Not even a fucking competition
College Dropout is leagues above
These are worthy contenders for best hip-hop album of all time.
Don't ever reply to me again
user, I will defend you here because Hello Nasty has way too many bangers to be overlooked. I'd say it's their second best to Paul.
white boys actually believe this lmao
realistically michete is changing the game.
shut the fuck up white boy, hip hop was barely what we know it to be today back in the 70s, MCs where literally just a prop for the DJ who was the star of the show, you probablly believe it was all the message (wich is quite honestly a disgrace of a trcak as they cut the Grandmaster from it).
Lyricism wasnt even a thing until maybe BDP, styles and flows where everything
It's no contest. Every song is rape the replay worthy, and every song is different.
Same old boring choices.
Mobb Deep - Hell on Earth or Kill the Vultures - S/T
What a wild ride, wonder what he'd be doing now if he hadn't died.
Well he probably would have gotten himself killed another way so it was only a matter of time
nobody has posted this yet
there isnt a single bad song on this album
this is one of my favorites
It's better than Bizarre Ride II
It's all bad
cause generic boom bap is sooooo much better
trap aint bad, neither is boom bap, quit being bitches, theres good shit in both styles, sub-genres or whatever you wanna call them, and yes a lot of 90s boom bap tracks sound as simmilar amongst eachother as modern trap songs
not saturation 2
I fucking hate this board sometimes
mad white boys, as always
Good underground album but not the best, it has some lows.
I'm a proud CHIcANO for your information, whitey
entonces vas y chingas a toda tu puta madre
ningun google translate compita, yo si se hablar español, los traductores son para ustedes los goblinos, yo soy tapatio
Not him but that wasn't g translate
nah, it makes for a good listen but is no way near the best hip hop album in history
its an essential g funk album but not the best
the only answer
yeah, but, and this is my personal opinion, G funk just dosent seem so important to hip hop as a whole to me, sure it had its moment in the spotlight and it is a good subgenre with lots of good rappers, captured a whole different mindset to what it was produced up until that time, but is too dated to have any record to be considered the greatest of all times for me
Best One yet
These are good too
Couldn't really get into these.
This is better:
(listen to an actual version, like most youtube uploads the audio quality is shit).
Kanye anywhere in the top 1000...
How many posts in are we and no one posted this? This is probably even better than Showbiz, flawless album, better than your current favourite:
Can't believe everybody skipped over this fire shit
also it's either this or
overrated but def great
just listen to 36mafia
not that good
mine is the actual best, i win
nobody has posted Black on Both SIdes yet
way too good for mu, they are all nas whiteboy fagz
Rarely listen to hip hop anymore but I still fucking love Eyedea
not even greatest common album
white Sup Forums fagboy groupthink: the album
MF DOOM fan's MF DOOM
this is the samefag that unironically thinks trout mask replica as the greatest album ever made
I'm with you but It is not greatest
hi, i'm white and i read pitchfork: the album
the real goat
Stepfather Factory is El-P at his peak imo
I would say the Low End Theory is better, but Midnight Marauders is still great. Electric Relaxation is one of my favourite songs of all time.
To be fair, you really have to have a high IQ to appreciate Captain Beefheart and any samples derived from their albums.
The album that birthed all soundcloud rap right now
ruining your hip hop music with rapping
not even the best del project
GET READY FOR A LOT OF FUN AND EXCITEMENT
cosmic assassins is the only good track
hotsauce in the dickhole with d-styles is better
Miles Davis said that he never got tired of listening to Paul's Boutique. Later, in a Vibe interview of all three Beastie Boys, Chuck D of Public Enemy was quoted as saying that the "dirty secret" among the black hip-hop community at the time of release was that "Paul's Boutique had the best beats."
literally the postmodern Paid in Full
Hip-Hop died after Enter the Wu-Tang/Midnight Maruders
Five on my back just because I'm black. Can't walk in the park just because I'm dark
New York, NJ, N.C., VA

Cannibal Ox: The Cold Vein (2001)
De La Soul: 3 Feet High and Rising (1989)
Cypress Hill: Cypress Hill (1991)
Fugees: The Score (1996)
shut the fuck up white boy, hip hop was barely what we know it to be today back in the 70s
yeah, it was good
MCs where literally just a prop for the DJ who was the star of the show
This is a bad thing why?
Lyricism wasnt even a thing until maybe BDP
MCs didn't have lyricism
You're a fucking child. Go listen to more raps about gold chains and bitches you neanderthal
That's a good thing.
