What is the greatest hip-hop album ever?
What is the greatest hip-hop album ever?
Well established fact
Paid in Full
TPAB
niggas actually believe this lmao
this but unironically
not the best, but massivley underrated.
unparalleled flow chemistry and solid production
I think Madvillainy has too much influence and importance to be ignored as the probable best
Stankonia's better
I keep going back to MBDTF trying to understand why anyone would consider it among the best albums hip-hop has to offer, when Kanye alone has better albums suited for that like TCD or LR, hell even the last edit of Pablo is better than MBDTF.
This list is almost on point though I would take out TPAB and include some Outkast album.
The more hip-hop I listen to the more genius this album becomes. There's so many different sounds and the interplay between the MCs make it still sound fresh decades later. Most hip-hop just sounds monotone in comparison.
Tariq Nasheed - Wash Yo Ass
Objectively.
I know everyone likes this but you don't often see it named as one of the best ever. It deserves it.
Nothing wrong with 2/3 of those albums.
Serious contender.
Mostly coming down the production, I don't know of any other mainstream hip-hop album with such lush production, and the rock influences are implemented in a tasteful way.
That being said, I have the exact same problem with 36 Chambers. Just can't get into Wu-Tang at all. I love OutKast and ATCQ, but I am not able to sit through a single Wu-Tang album. Might be the fact I'm not a native speaker so don't pick up lyrics on-the-fly.
Fuck off rym-asslicker
This
easy
DORITOS
It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold us Back.
CHEETOS AND FRITOS
This is pretty LIT.
Either of these
These are awesome
Overrated
maybe
You already posted it OP
Aww shucks, thanks for agreeing
remove the first 2 and you'd be correct :)
>I share a board with people with opinions like these
Madvillainy is great but I don't think it's possible to argue the other two come anywhere close to 36 Chambers and Illmatic.
I would never consider anything produced after 1987 to be great. Hip-hop died after NWA imo
memes
correct answer
>(you have to be severely retarded to hold this opinion seriously)
36 chambers, ATLiens or maybe Stankonia, MBDTF, Illmatic and this should all be in the conversation
honrable mention to Supreme Clientele

mixtapes count in the discussion because they are collections of music and why do you say its not hip hop
this is a personal favourite but their albums are nowhere near consistent enough to be all-time greats
yeah this
popping? what are we popping?
iffy, uh
Can confirm
No your just a mark. Early canibus had the entire industry on his dick
>Lmao/10 (-10/10)
silly(iffy) nigga detected
don't mind me just being the best hip-hop album
not even dre's best album
56% / 100
An emerging art form got turned into niggery and yo i gots dis stuff. NY hip hop from the 70s and 80s shits all over the fucking nigger criminal garbage
>lyrical content dictates quality of music
shut the fuck up brainlet, I'll give you De La Soul because they were better than anything that came at least 15 years after but don't even try
I've never properly looked at this album cover before, man it's fucking creepy
Oh? Jazz, bebop and blues inspired music is better than 3 second looped "beats" with absolute garbage vocals and lyrics on top?
I'll give you something, I totally forgot Low End Theory was a 90s release not late 80s. After that you could definitely call the genre dead
It cant be too bad if tommy Wright III is on it
Seriously pit that basic shit against most classic hip-hop albums from the 00's and 10's - of course they're essential but most of them are horrendously dated and don't hold a candle whatsoever to the intricacies of the production of a solid modern hip-hop album.
It's not their fault either, we've just moved on, your favourites are antiquated, we're all tired of them
>muh production
Polished turds
>ahh yes I'll just relax to this inferior music while I enjoy all these wholesome lyrics which make the music better because it's wholesome and not degenerate at all
come out your shelter you fucking child
Wait, you actually like the final version of Pablo? It's dogshit, the original release has so much more charm to it. And I don't tucking know what the fuck you're going on about, MBTDF is his best hands down
Debate with me
Production isn't anything special that hasn't already been done before, and he is a decent rapper but he pitch shifts his fucking voice too much, not to mention his voice is garbage anyway
Hey, Anthony
the production is the biggest redeeming factor of this album
Can't say I'm a fan of it
Either this or Aceyalone's Book of Human Language.
hilarious how youngfags actually think to pimp a butterfly has ANYTHING on 36 chambers.
Not a huge Kendrick fan, but 36 Chambers is boring as fuck.
No 36 chambers is classic from the instant you hear BRING DA MUTHAFUCKIN RUCKIS
oblivion access is better
I wish it brought a ruckus. Everything from the production to the rapping falls so flat for me.
So much better than Illmatic too
Not really. I enjoyed Illmatic much more, the production side of things isn't nearly as one-dimensional and I like Nas' timbre and rhymes more than anybody from Wu Tang.
If you say so, personally I think I may stand for everything you don't stand for, we might be natural born enemies
Let's fuck.
I'd rather not, I'm asexual
