MBTI is one of those things that is absolutely unscientific and the scientific community rejects it, but for some reason enterprise/corporate America loves it.
Usually the corporate world avoids psuedoscience, as it is obviously unprofitable and stupid, but this one slipped through the cracks. Corprate America and the use of it in HR departments is what has led to MBTI being a popular personality metric.
I blame the rise of HR and rise of Psychology and Sociology.
