The Desolation of Smaug one was the worst out of all 6 movies. I don't remember if they title dropped in the 1st and 3rd Hobbit movies but they would have been worse than any LotR ones.
The LotR ones don't even seem egregious, probably because the titles of the LotR movies aren't bad
The reason title drops are bad is because they're so out of place because the name of the movie isn't a natural thing people would say. That's different with LotR, where all the titles are pretty natural sounding. Return of the King is the least natural of the 3 but compared to other movies it's pretty tame.
