What is your favourite film of 2016?

What is your favourite film of 2016?

For me it's got to be either "Arrival" or "Hell or High Water".

I've been limited to downloadable films though.

Funny how a film that would have been considered really average in the 70's and typically looked down upon by the critics for being a small genre piece, is today considered best of the year potential and Oscars contender.

Makes you think.

Yeah, not a very strong year so far.
It's a solid 7/10 film though.

...

Is the order they're in your ranking?
Is the star rating your rating?

>Sully 4 stars
>The accountant 2
>BvS 3
>Nice Guys 1
>10 Cloverfield Lane 1

Holy fucking pleb

tng was the worst pile of shit i probably saw this year

It's okay, user
You can't help it

This.

YELLOWD

I'm baffled by a few of these.

For some reason I can't stand Korean films.
They have this style to them I find completely disgusting.

Hell or High Water was my favorite film of the year until I saw Manchester by the Sea. Then I saw La La Land and that became the best. Right now, I'd say it's..
1. La La Land
2. Manchester by the Sea
3. Hell or High Water
4. Kubo
5. The Lobster

From there, the list drops off a bit with things like Arrival, Green Room, Nice Guys and some other stuff, but I still have a bunch of films to catch up on before I decide on my top for 2016 way way after the year ended.

>Green Room
>Midnight Special
>Hunt For The Wilderpeople
>The Handmaiden
>Hell Or High Water

The Lobster is 2015 bro

Arrival, Silence, and Neon Demon are my three favorites of 2016.

>Silence
can't wait for a webdl or bdrip to be released

>The Lobster is 2015 bro
I was iffy on including it on a 2016 list because I know it was originally released in 2015, but it didn't come out in the US until 2016 and it was nominated for an Oscar so I figured fuck it, throw it on the list. Same deal with Green Room, originally released in 2015 but didn't get a US release until 2016.

Jack Reacher
Hacksaw Ridge
Hell or high water
Nice guys

Fell asleep during Arrival.

Best so far
>Manchester by the Sea
>The Lobster
>Captain Fantastic
>Midnight Special
>Nocturnal Animals
>The Witch
>Kubo

That said, I still have yet to see:
>Moonlight
>Hunt for the Wilderpeople
>The Handmaiden

>Fell asleep during Arrival.
Same.

Yep, Arrival is a pretty good pleb filter.

Your Name

If you've read Augustine and Nietzsche the concept presented doesn't seem like anything new except how smart women are supposed to be but never are.

?

Manchester by the sea or toni erdmann and those are the only movies id give 8/10, shit year

Also this. Painfully shit movie, worst screenplay and characters ive seen in like 3 years, normally i dont even finish movies of this quality.

I find them intriguing exactly for the same reason... The subtle cultural differences in storytelling and characterization. Plus there is that some odd quality i cant really point out.

...

Hacksaw Ridge
Miles Ahead
Hell or High Water
Batman v Superman

The Man With Thousand Faces

is the odd quality that they seem to revel in violence? all the top korean directors have this weird passion for violence and they portray it quite uniquely imo

Kek

That's definitely part of why I dislike them. I've encountered a similar perversion when trying to watch Hellsing: Ultimate, but I've never been very big on anime.

The Nice Guys

I also loved Nocturnal Animals, Swiss Army Man and Hunt for the Wilderpeople

;____;

The Witch and Manchester by the Sea desu

>Everybody Want's Some
>The Nice Guys
>1 star
What did he mean by this?

>For me it's got to be either "Arrival" or "Hell or High Water".
same here

This and the nice guys are my two favorite movies of 2016.

Green Room is 2015, otherwise it would be on my list too
