Catholicism has a chance for redemption and Eastern Orthodox is largely a meme by Russian shills.

filioque, purgatory, pope

catholic priests cannot marry

Orthodox
>pope
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Orthodox look like jews but they worship Jesus

Dumbest post so far

Orthodoxy is basically a cucked out meme.

-EO think the bishop of Rome has (or had) only an honorary primacy over the Church, Catholics think he had a real primacy and could veto what was decided by other bishops in councils.

-In the early middle ages (before the Islamic conquest of 711) catholics of Spain added the word Filioque to the creed, which means the Holy Spirit/Ghost also proceeds from Jesus, not only from God the father. the Catholic Church finds that acceptable. Eastern Orthodox think you cant change the creed, and others think the Filioque is also wrong in itself.
You should google the wikipedia article on Filioque.

-Catholics cant divorce and remarry, they can only get their marriage declared null (which means it never existed in first place), and for that a reason is needed, like one of the spouses being deceived at the moment of getting married. The Orthodox can divorce and remarry many times.

-catholic church has generally been quite independent, because the church had its own state (papal states), and priests answering to rome and not to france or spain or italian states. EO have generally been very controlled and associated with their monarchies, from the Byzantine Empire on. Google Caesaropapism.
The Orthodox Church is divided in many ethnic national churches.

there are many more smaller differences of lithurgy.

Orthodoxy is by far the most based and real form of christianity.

That is ridiculous, when you consider that the last patriarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church have been KGB agents, and that the Turkish State could end the Patriarchate of Constantinople at any time.

Also, Poland and JP2 did much more against communism than any of the generally collaborators orthodox priests.

>when you consider that the last patriarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church have been KGB agents,
Pretty based. Dont see anytging erong eith that.
Besides you're just talking about the Russian Orthodox church while there are many.

It's the largest though, isnt it?

t. Greek diaspora

But sure lol.
Maybe kissing nigger feet as well as 500 years of pedophilia. political corruption, conspiracy, and abuse is the true Christian way kek.

>greek/serb/russian diasporaling in Switzerland

One bad pope =/= Turkey being able to literally close down your patriarchate at any time they feel like.

>One bad pope
>one
More like one good pope.
>close down your patriarchate
Turkey cant close shit

>immovable ladder
>moved twice
So this is the power of orthodoxy...

Turkey can only close its own, literally explained in a post upthread. Unless you think Constantinople was in Greece or something. Each orthodox patriarchy (triggered) is entirely independent, except in some smaller Balkan countries/regions that don't have a significant enough orthodox population. It's grossly misinformed to say the Russian church has anything to do with the Greek or any other church aside from the #ladsontour thing where bishops, priests and patriarchs visit one another. They also do lots of things differently and have their own local traditions. It's not like catholicism where everyone answers to Pope Francis

Basically the rites and the fact the Orthodox doesn't have am overall leading head - the Russian Orthodox Church doesn't follow the head of the Greek Orthodox Church, for example.
On the other hand, Catholics from around the globe do have the Pope as their Prime Father.

While I'm a Catholic, I don't despise the Orthodox or any other (real) kind of Christianity - we all believe in Jesus Christ, after all. We just do it in different ways.

I'm Catholic. Today I would say the largest obstacle to reunification is that while both believe that the Bishop of Rome has a special place, they disagree regarding the extent of his authority. Starting in the Middle Ages their philosophical traditions grew apart somewhat, there is the issue of the filioque and some other theological issues, but they're very similar in terms of everyday practice and belief.

Only Latin priests must be celibate, and even then there are some very rare exceptions such as when a married Anglican priest converts and becomes a Catholic Priest. Eastern Catholic priests like Maronites, Greek Catholics, Chaldeans, etc. are usually married just as Eastern Orthodox priests.

>Basically the rites

To be a little more clear about liturgical rites, Eastern Orthodox follow the Byzantine rite, but there are some who follow Western rites. Latin Catholics almost all follow the Roman rite (although there are some rare other Western rites like the Ambrosian, Mozarabic, or Dominican (pic related) rites), but Eastern Catholics might follow the Byzantine rite, Armenian rite, Alexandrian rite, Syriac rites, etc. depending on the church.

One is The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. The other is the Russian Orthodox Church

>Turkey cant close shit

Whenever the Pope ask us to take back the Holy Land, I will
simple as

Isn't the current pope a cuck though?

Well according to Christianity he is probably the best damn Pope we've had in a while yes
However when it comes to a Deus Vult point, yes he is pretty much a cuck. But that has been going on since Vatican II when commies infiltrated the See.

>cuck
Like Jesus?
