The weird thing about Italian "irredentism" is that next to no Italians ever lived on the lands claimed by Italy. They were basically making the whole thing up.
They wuz Venetians and shiet
you can take them but only if you promise their genocide
It's one of those situations that were too complex for the pigheaded nationalism of the XIX and XX centuries to assess rationally which lead to lots of suffering and deaths for both parties. We can thank Germ*n Romanticism for that
There is an italian minority in slovenia

Even weirder, Italian and Albanian irredentism are the same.
>all the major cities and towns are italian
>inhabitated mountains and little agricolture towns are slav.

It's the same as in Lviv and Galicia 2bh.
Probably the only "irredent" region that was really Italian together with Ticino and Nizza. Nizza is a lost case nowadays, Ticino and Corsica are definitely italian though.
Even their "babbu da a patria( father of the motherland)" or how the heck they write it, Pasquale Paoli, recognized that Corsicans were a type of italians and wanted italian as the official language and used it as such during the brief Corsican independence.
