Intermissions used to occur for this reason. I remember the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven had one since it ran 2 hours and 45 minutes long.

I've enjoyed plenty of movies over 2.5 hrs long, but with all of them (with the exception of Love Exposure) I remember thinking "I hope shit wraps up soon."
That being said, people watch t.v. series's in one sitting all the time, so idk.
Similar to this I feel most songs kind of pad their length with 3+ refrains/choruses whatever. It can get a bit tedious.
I like punk and thrash for that reason. Generally around the nice cozy 2 min mark. Doesn't have a chance to wear out its welcome.
I think it takes a little more than 72 seconds to read a single page of a book. But yeah the movie is almost as loyal as possible in that sense

It's 2 hrs for dramas, 1.5 hrs for comedies and horrors and anything light, and the 2.5 to 3 hrs for epics. If you go outside of that you're movie is probably boring
