Because it sounds like a girl's name

Because it would be an insult to Helen Keller.

Shitposting to the bone, my Melbournian friend.

Of course you are aware that Greece is called Hellada in Greek...

Or something like: Hllada (with H = /ee/ sound)

Greek Language = illiniki glossa

>Hellene
>Έλλην

That means greek.

you were obviously going for "Hellas". The constitutional name is Hellenic Republic which is pretty much it.

You even know my city.

Greek lamb is fucking delicious. You cluld call the country willybumbum and I'd still love them and their food.

Based Norway called it Hellas.

But is it cool or nah?

Where the fuck does "greece" even come from linguistically?

Graikos=demigod from beotia=people from beotia=lots of people from beotia go to rome=graecia

el greco you ingrate, el greco

Graeci was the name of a city/people in ancient Greece.

They established colonies in southern Italy.

When the Latins & Romans met the Greek colonists, they called themselves Graeci. In antiquity, cultures usually used the same name for all speakers of a specific language/members of specific culture group. Thus in Latin Graeci came to refer to Hellenes in general.

Because southern Italy was so bountiful, the Greek colonies and cities became known as 'Magna Graecia'.

Greek is simply the Anglicization of Graeci. Most languages in Europe took the word from Latin. Some did not. Greeks themselves use Hellas/Hellenes.

Isn't it hellas (with double l)?

btw just visited greece because I have family living there, it was great
greeks are very warm people

>Greek and Israeli flag have same color scheme
>Greek and Hebrew language look almost the same
>Greece is within migrational walking distance to Jerusalem
>Greeks and Jews both have big noses and dark eye circles

((((coincidence))))? I think not

>>Greek and Hebrew language look almost the same
Ti leei autos re paidia?

you better take that shit back boy

Someone on /his/ does spout bullshit that the Dorians were Jews and that Jews settled Greece even before that.

But there is no proof to suggestion Dorians were at all related to Israeli Tribes. And any theories regarding the bronze age are unlikely to be true.

It's possible that Greeks settled in Canaan after the Bronze Age collapse though. Some evidence that Philistines were Greek.

Why isn't it just called hell?
It's a more appropriate name.

False, we are Nordic Arians in blood

why isnt greece called turkey they are turks anyway

oh yeah?

gud keks
